"Patriots," Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon said. "All day."
With those words, it's quite clear the battle for Los Angeles rages on.

Gordon was asked who he would be rooting for in Super Bowl LIII: The cross-town L.A. Rams or the same New England Patriots that ended Gordon and the Chargers' season in the AFC Divisional Round.

His aforementioned response came without hesitation.

"Yeah, I don't want the Rams to win," Gordon chuckled during a Sunday interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio. "I don't have to -- I live in L.A. Y'all know. I live in L.A. and I've got to hear that all day. You know how many signs, Rams signs, I see?"

So it would seem that to the winners not only go the spoils but all the adulation, and Gordon's a little tired of seeing the city shower praise and attention on the Rams.

Gordon's comments came during his time at the Pro Bowl, which has become somewhat of a bittersweet honor considering if you're in town for the Pro Bowl, you're obviously not playing in the Super Bowl.

The talented running back was laughing throughout his answer, but it's clear that the Southern California resident is all about L.A. fans rooting for the Chargers and not the Rams. Alas, the harsh truth is that, at least for now, it's the Rams in the Super Bowl spotlight.

"I need them to lose," he continued. "I don't care where y'all put me on TV saying this. I need them to lose. I love the guys over there. I'm cool with Todd [Gurley], I'm cool with all them boys. But man, I need them boys to lose."

LOL. Rams winning the SB? Man that's the last thing the Chargers want to see!! The only thing worse than that would be losing to the Rams in the SB. Bad enough they got whupped in the regular season!

I think them having a losing record would be even worse. They at least showed up as contenders, which will help them. Still, I see no way in hell this market will ever be able to get behind both teams. The Bolts will be The Clippers at best. Always.

Phillip Rivers is closer to the end of his career. Jared Goff is just starting. So is Sean McVay. If the Rams make a few Superbowls and win a couple over the next decade, I could see that being the case.

The Lakers are popular because how successful they've been. Wilt and West winning a title and multiple finals appearances. Magic/Kareem and Showtime of the 80's. Kobe/Shaq threepeat. Kobe's back to back titles.

If McVay and Goff become the NFL's new tandum over the next decade the Chargers will be relegated to red headed stepchild status. And Dean Spanos will continue to lose to Stan Kroenke in more ways than one. :lol2:

And Dean Spanos will move them back to San Diego, where they should be and exactly what happened in the early 60's!

Bold talk from a guy whose team basically everyone said was awesome and promptly went out and got their asses handed to them by the Pats. 38-7 in the early third quarter? GTFO

If he wants fans he should do exactly that. Football fans are forgiving. Give them a team and they'll take you back. Give them a winner and even more will jump on the bandwagon. Problem is, Dean's just as cash poor as Mark Davis. I guess he figures he can pay rent to Stan and stay second fiddle in LA.
