I can't believe I'm writing another story about an athlete who believes the Earth is flat, but dammit, athletes keep on believing the Earth is flat!

Sammy Watkins is the latest to subscribe to the ludicrous theory that the earth is flat, despite pictures of the earth and air travel being a thing and a ridiculously overwhelming scientific consensus that the world is spherical.

Lindsey Thiry of the Los Angeles Times tweeted the frustrating news on Tuesday night.

Rams receiver Sammy Watkins is among those who believe the earth is flat.

Kyrie Irving brought this belief, which has been comprehensively debunked to the point where it doesn't deserve addressing anymore, back to the forefront when he said he believes the Earth is flat back in February. Draymond Green, who is a smart person, then inexplicably voiced his support for questioning the Earth's shape at the All-Star break, citing his ability to take a curved picture as evidence. Recently, young Boston Celtic Jaylen Brown revealed that he thinks Irving has a point and looks forward to discussing the controversy with Irving.

At first, this was kind of funny. But children look up to these athletes and take their word as truth, so more and more athletes voicing this B.S. belief means more and more minds corrupted with this total hogwash.

yeah, in another 10 years you'll be hard-pressed to find an adult living in the u.s. who doesn't believe in a flat earth, here's to hoping that congress acts fast!

As long as he keeps playing well, he can believe the sky is pink for all I care.

Is he religious by chance? I have found in my readings most who have his view are and take the verse of God laid the foundations of the earth and placed the cornerstone the reason they feel it must be flat.

I don't know how anyone can come to that conclusion however mass and gravity show that flat could never exist because any flat plane in such a mass or dimensions gravity pulls it down so it is round or a sphere shape why all stars, moons and planetary bodies we see are just that.

@Will0120 is correct that kids look up to these guys as idols, but, hopefully, there is an adult (parent, relative, teacher, etc.) who can keep the kids on the north side of dumb.

I agree with @RedAlice that as long as he is a playmaker, who cares? This offense is fun to watch.

All true. The universe is a fascinating place. So many wonders to observe with our space probes only scratching the surface. Cassini spacecraft gave us amazing intel on our solar system. Back to the flat Earth stuff...utter nonsense. Everyone knows that the Earth is unique as it is shaped like an isosceles triangle...duh.

The Bills and the Patriots are in the same division so maybe he's still talking about Brady's balls being flat.

Or is he dating a woman named the Earth?

I mean that makes more sense right?
