Eagles' Sam Bradford will play Saturday, but for how long?

PHILADELPHIA — Quarterback Sam Bradford, barring the unforeseen, will make his Eagles debut when the team hosts the Baltimore Ravens, Saturday night.

Bradford, acquired from the St. Louis Rams this past offseason for quarterback Nick Foles and a 2016 second-round draft pick and coming off his second torn ACL in his left knee, did not play in last Sunday's preseason opener against Indianapolis.

"The plan is to have a great day today,'' Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said when asked what his plan for the quarterback was. "We still have (Thursday's) training and (Friday's) training. Then we'll sit down and decide who's playing what Saturday.''

Bradford went against another defense for the first time since last preseason the Eagles had their first of three joint practices with the Ravens.

"I thought Sam did a real nice job (Wednesday),'' Kelly said. "Hopefully, he can put up another good day (Thursday). Baltimore's front is very formidable, but again they're still not hitting him. I thought the work he did was good, though.''

Asked "ideally'' how many snaps he would like Bradford to get this preseason, Kelly said that hadn't been discussed. Pressed by the same questioner, Kelly quipped:

"One hundred and six. We'll see if we can get him there.''

Those snaps will start Saturday, right?

"Nothing has changed,'' Kelly said. "But we still have two days of training, so if Sam were to roll his ankle today he wouldn't play Saturday.''

Injury Report: Linebacker Kiko Alonso continues to get back into the swing after missing time with a concussion. It's still 50-50 if he plays Saturday, or not. The same with safety Jerome Couplin, who missed time with an appendectomy.

Safety Earl Wolff, out with a knee injury, has been with the doctor the past two days.

Kelly on Flacco: The Eagles coach spoke in glowing terms of Audubon native and Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Flacco, of the Ravens.

"I think he's one of the elite quarterbacks in the league,'' Kelly said. "You roll up on Joe, he's a big guy. And he's one of the most poised guys in the locker back there. He's such a good decision maker and such a clutch player.''

Kelly and Flacco go all the way back to when the quarterback was at the University of Delaware and Kelly was at New Hampshire.

Not Special: Asked if quarterback Tim Tebow would get any work on special teams, Kelly said he would not.

"Tim will not be playing special teams,'' the coach said.
