49ers, Brock Purdy Agree To Extension
May 16th, 2025 at 4:03pm CST • By Adam La Rose
Brock Purdy will not need to wait until training camp to ink his extension. The 49ers’ starting quarterback agreed to a deal Friday, Tom Pelissero, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report.

This will be a five-year, $265MM pact, Purdy’s agent informed the NFLN trio. The league’s latest monster QB deal includes $181MM in total guarantees; that figure consists of $165.05MM covering the next three seasons. Purdy is now on the books through 2030.

Purdy is a good QB but he hasn't earned an elite status IMO. He showed last year that he's a marginal QB if he has to carry the team. This exposes the weakness of the Niners. It shows the pressure the FO and Shanny are under this year. It's why so many think it's playoffs or there will be massive changes in the organization.

There are rumblings in Seattle about a possible ownership change. If there was ever a season for the Rams to take control of the division this is it. They should be looking at making a run first and foremost for the #1 or #2 seed in the NFC.

With playing both the Eagles at the time of year weather shouldn't be a major factor and a midseason bye it's all set up for the Rams.

Purdy is not a bad quarterback. But I really don't think he's in the top ten. He's got a 7th round arm. We'll see how it goes with a supporting cast nowhere near as good as before. Last year it resulted in 6-11.

Deebo's gone. I doubt McCaffrey is the same guy he was a couple years ago. Aiyuk struggled before the injury. He won't be available till mid season. I doubt he'll return in top form with that injury. Might take the rest of the season to get the feel for the game back. And the confidence. Kittle's still productive. But can he avoid the injury bug? At 32 injuries seem to happen more often.

The defense lost half their starters. And they weren't that good to begin with. Especially against the run. The offensive line was questionable and they didn't improve it. A lot of things can happen but the age and loss of key players might be problem. They have a weak schedule so even if they're a .500 caliber team they can win 9 or 10 games. I doubt they're worse than some of the other last place teams.

49ers don't have enough money now to plug any holes.

It is a great story. Gotta be the largest contract ever signed by the final pick in the draft. A true American underdog success story. But the key word there is success. Unless he leads the niners to a Lombardi, it might as well be the Raiders drafting and signing JeMarcus Russell to huge deal.

hah! i remember that deal PA.. and let's not forget the Chargers "giving it up" for Ryan Leaf :lol2: .. i think the effen' niners take a slow and painful slide starting this season, Samuel's gone & no way is McCaffrey ever getting back to elite again (RB).. Purdy will get pounded into submission eventually (i love watching them fail).. hahahahaha
