Remember (and as Snead has pointed out), there's only been 1 year in both his college and pro career combined where Foles played in a full-on pro style offense. Under Kelly for example he had little experience if any under center and making reads while dropping back. So getting Foles up to speed was more than a matter of a qb coming from one team to another and learning a new system. I don't know if under the new CBA, which limits the number of practices, if you can convert a rookie to a pro qb while also getting your veteran starter ready in a system he's not used to (and far more "not used to" than most qbs because of the extended time playing in spread or spread-influenced systems). This year, as Snead has pointed out, Foles and Mannion are actually competing for a roster spot. Remember (and as Snead has pointed out), there's only been 1 year in both his college and pro career combined where Foles played in a full-on pro style offense. Under Kelly for example he had little experience if any under center and making reads while dropping back. So getting Foles up to speed was more than a matter of a qb coming from one team to another and learning a new system. I don't know if under the new CBA, which limits the number of practices, if you can convert a rookie to a pro qb while also getting your veteran starter ready in a system he's not used to (and far more "not used to" than most qbs because of the extended time playing in spread or spread-influenced systems). This year, as Snead has pointed out, Foles and Mannion are actually competing for a roster spot.
