Now the question is,
who will they cut?
There will be at least three being cut,
because Higbee will be back at least within two weeks
and G/Leveston within a week,
most likely I see C/McMahon getting cut for Leveston.
So, that leaves two spots to get cut.

The Los Angeles Rams have claimed cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. off waivers from the Washington Commanders, head coach Sean McVay said Monday.

Forbes, the No. 16 pick in 2023, was cut by the Commanders on Saturday. He started seven games in two seasons, but only one in 2024. He was benched in both seasons and missed time due to injury.

He was selected by the Commanders' previous front office and coaching staff that liked that Forbes was adept at taking the ball away. He intercepted 14 passes in his career at Mississippi State, setting a Division I record with six returned for a touchdown.

McVay said Forbes was a player the Rams liked coming out of college, praising his ball production, versatility, "competitive toughness on the edge" and good ball skills.

"He was a guy that we liked and had a familiarity with just based on the evaluation coming out of Mississippi State," McVay said. "And then I thought there was some good tape that he's put out there when we've gone against them, particularly later in the year last year

Forbes is under contract through 2026 with a fifth-year option in 2027 the Rams can exercise.

In two seasons, Forbes has two interceptions and 45 tackles in 20 games.

Here are five things to know about Forbes, the Rams’ newest cornerback.

There’s a new face in the Los Angeles Rams’ cornerback room after the team claimed Emmanuel Forbes off waivers from the Washington Commanders on Monday. Forbes, who was just waived by the Commanders on Saturday, didn’t have to wait long to find a new team and he’ll try to make the most of his fresh start in Los Angeles.

Though things clearly didn’t work out for him in Washington as he was released less than two years into his tenure after being a first-round pick in 2023, he has a chance to turn things around with the Rams – a team that could use cornerback help now and in the future.

1
He was the 16th overall pick and 2nd CB taken in the 2023 draft

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Forbes was a highly touted prospect out of Mississippi State and the Commanders loved him in the draft. They selected him with the 16th overall pick, making him the second cornerback taken; Devon Witherspoon was the first at No. 5 overall.

As a first-round pick, Forbes has a fifth-year option on his contract in the 2027 season, should the Rams want to pick it up.
2
He ran a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no question Forbes has speed. He showed that off at the NFL combine last year, running a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash. That was the fifth-fastest time of any player in the combine, only 0.09 seconds slower than the fastest player, D.J. Turner.
3
He's listed at 180 pounds but weighed 166 at the combine

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Commanders listed Forbes at 180 pounds, which is still on the lighter side for a cornerback – especially one who’s 6-foot-1. However, at the NFL combine, he weighed in at only 166 pounds. Either he’s bulked up a bit since getting to the league or his weight is inflated, but either way, he’s still a slim cornerback who lacks a bit of physicality on the outside.
4
He has 2 career interceptions and 5 TDs allowed

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

In 20 career games, Forbes has played 371 total snaps in coverage. He’s picked off two passes and allowed five touchdown catches, according to Pro Football Focus. All five of those touchdown receptions came in 2023 when he was a rookie, and he’s had one interception in each of his first two seasons.

He has a coverage grade of only 38.1 this season, giving up seven catches on nine targets.
5
He holds the FBS record with 6 career pick-sixes

Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

Forbes was a ball hawk in college, which was a big reason he was drafted so early. In his career at Mississippi State, he picked off 14 passes. He had five in 2020, three in 2021 and six in his final season in 2022.

Of those 14 interceptions, he returned six of them for touchdowns: three in 2020 and three 2022. His six interceptions returned for a touchdown are an FBS record and he ranks fourth in school history with 14 career picks.

The Woods move a bit surprising. Can he go to the PS? Not sure what “no recall” means.

166lbs at the combine...and only 180lbs at his heaviest. This dude NEEDS to hit the gym, and up his protein per day. Half to wonder if maybe he has a chronic illness that keeps him thin.
