Kobe Bryant will be joining the St. Louis Rams in the Things We Used to Love in Sports Museum once this NBA season ends. Bryant will be retiring, fading off into the basketball abyss, as the NBA searches for a new face of the league.

The city of Los Angeles will be looking around for the same. Bryant has been the biggest name in town for years, helping the Lakers to five championships since coming into the NBA in 1996. Now, though, L.A. has the football Rams, who will come over from St. Louis next season, and the town's new running back says he's hoping to be the most recognizable face in SoCal:

Gurley had a superb rookie season with the Rams in St. Louis this past year, leading all first-year players in rushing and getting into the end zone 10 times. He did all that while starting only 12 games. Not bad for a kid who's still only 21.

Still, he has a long way to go to surpass what Kobe's done on the hardwood, and his Rams will have to win a whole lot more in L.A. than they did St. Louis in order for him to get close to Lakers status. After all, the Rams haven't had a winning season since 2003.

I especially like it because Kobe came out and said he doesn't care about the Rams. He said he's an Eagles fan and he's only interested in a team wearing green.

So if Gurley takes Kobe's spotlight in LA, Kobe can go back to Philly and wear his ugly green colors.

Love his attitude.

He's been going about his marketing nicely. The random twitter pics of him just casually checking out the town is good start. Nothing too flashy. Smart guy. Hope he gets what he wants (as that helps us get what we want).

I like Gurly more and more each day. He's brash but in a non-threatening way. Plus, he sells the smile with his humble appreciation of his opportunity to play in the NFL. IMO the Rams do have a true super star in the making on their hands!

But Kobe is sucking $20M out of the Lakers salary cap annually. I hope TGII doesn't replace that part of Kobe,, or KB8's contribution level as of late,,,, or his anti-Ram attitude.

Watched the Eric Dickerson impersonation interview Elvis posted above - Gurley is the real deal. So nice and secure in himself.

And, he has obviously spent some time with the Gatorade marketing crew. Excellent job on that light up the lid thingy.

We are in for some fun.

He's got a great personality.. I just hope he remembers the game comes first. Great rookie season, but he's got work to do!

Yes he does. I think he knows that though. He seems like he gets it.

His job is to perform. Our job is to root for him.

The rest, well he seems like he wants to be the best. On field is what matters, and what ultimately gives him what he wants.
