Yesterday Jourdan thought the idea was a joke:

But today she's a little more even handed about the possibility:

I'd go for that. Maybe with a legitimate offensive minded coach, he could benefit. Especially if he stuck around in 2023 to back up Stafford. Way better than Wolford or Perkins. I read somewhere that McVay said if they didn't have Goff, he would have been interested in drafting Mayfield. Don't know if that bit of info is true, just that I read it somewhere. Of course, I don't think we had the draft capital at that time anyway.

There was that story years ago about McVay and Mayfield sitting together flying out to the combine...

Mayfield's contract expires at the end of the year so not a lot of upside or downside to claiming him. Do it to screw the Niners? Maybe McVay has always liked him? Maybe it would just be to generate some headlines and interest for the rest of the season where there's basically none?

I mean he definitely better than Wolford and most likely better than Perkins. A decent backup with McVay could instill some confidence back in him (and be completely healthy).

If Stafford were to retire, which I would give a 25% chance, maybe Baker would be a viable option for next year. If so, why not take a look for the last 4 games this year? Maybe McVay can get an idea whether he thinks he can win with him going forward.

Even though he is short for a QB at 6-1 like Woolfie,

He does have a cannon arm, with the scramble ability.

I would take him as a backup,

10x better the Woolfie,,,

The RAMs have nothing to lose,

His salary for the waiver would be less than 1.5mil for the rest of the year.
