Raiders could move to San Diego for 2017 or 2018 season

Adam Schefter

Where the San Diego Chargers ultimately wind up could heavily influence where the Oakland Raiders play in the future.

The Chargers and Rams are still actively discussing a Los Angeles partnership, according to sources, and the two sides are aiming for an answer in the coming weeks.

If the Chargers do move to Los Angeles, the Raiders could move to San Diego for the 2017 or 2018 season, according to a source.

One source this weekend called a Raiders move to San Diego "very viable."

The Raiders are expected to remain in Oakland for the 2016 season, but beyond that is very much in question.

The most logical thing, IMO, is with the Raiders staying in Oakland this year, the Chargers will stay in SD waiting to see if the Raiders to get a deal done in Oakland. If Oakland is no longer a threat to move to LA or SD in 2017, then the Chargers can make a more informed decision.

So, I don't see anyone else moving this year.

Although the San Diego Raiders does not sound right, however, I would go back to the logo with less black, which was their original logo.

I don't buy this scenario at all. Didn't the league say they didn't want 3 teams in SoCal? Having both the Rams and Raiders near the Chargers in LA would sink the Chargers franchise faster than the Titanic. Even if the Chargers move to LA, I doubt the league would sign off on the Raiders to SD.

Love the helmet in their helmet logo.

Agreed re SD Raiders and the owners. Also, the league wouldn't publicly offer $100M to stay home if that wasn't their desired outcome. LA leverage is a good thing too.

Doesn't make any sense to me. Not enough Raider fans in SD it fill even half a stadium.

These must be the same sources that said Carson was a lock. This is about continuing the leverage saga. Same track as before only the Rams got of the train. Just like before. If it doesn't make sense, it's not going to happen. The shield is filled with spoiled rich probably corrupt people, but they are not stupid. Moving the Raiders to San Diego is stupid. The Chargers to LA is (to a lesser degree) also stupid.
I'll believe Chargers to LA when I see the NFL announce it. All they have done is offer $110M not stop it.
