through week 12 the rams are 1-4 against teams with a winning record, and have averaged just 21.4 offensive points against them.

so what's the deal? is it mcvay or stafford? why can't the rams at least look good trying when facing winning teams this year, and beat them at a much better clip than 1 out 5?

or are mcvay and stafford aces, against both good and the bad teams, but they've just been torpedoed by snead and a lack of surrounding cast members?

fwiw today's packers oline was a makeshift group consisting of a guy taken the 4th round (0 nfl starts before this year), a guy taken in the 6th round (0 nfl starts before this year), and 2 undrafted guys (one with 0 nfl starts before this year).

stafford was supposed to be the difference between an underachieving rams offense the last couple of seasons and a super bowl offense in 2021 - the only way to be that difference is to show up against the better teams in the league, which hasn't happened nearly enough in 2021.

2021 - rams vs teams with a winning record, rams vs teams with non-winning records:

Lots of talk and stats for me, a simple man. All I can say is this: I’d Rams don’t win this weekend at home against Jax, I’m officially in panic mode

Its Goff!!!

Just kidding, Its both.

Stafford is not who we thought he was.

McVay- he’s been unable to get the team ready for big matchups these past couple years. He doesnt seem to get that the 49ers, no matter thier record, are a BIG matchup for us. For all his positive talk, its clear he is not a motivator of men. Too many x’s and o’s when we really need mentality and emotion.

Definitely both.

I think McVay is great but he definitely has his flaws like anyone else.

As for Stafford. It's tough. Personally I never bought all the media hype. When we aquired Stafford I went back and watched a good amount of Lions games (not YouTube highlights). By in large this is who he is....a streaky player with a great arm. He's always had accuacy lapses at times. I will say he was exceeding my expectations for most of the year till late. Then again the Rams were rarely tested. I always viewed Stafford has a upgrade over Goff (bad Goff) but not a drastic improvement overall. Where I've been most disappointed is we really haven't seen him elevate the offense like we hoped. If things break down he's not all that much better then Goff. Also, Staffords record vs winning teams and big games still seems to be a issue.

Is it McVay or Stafford?

I see it as there is too much expectation on the passing game (by McVay), and not enough production from the run game.

Also, there are too many weak links on the defense. And, opposing offensive coordinators are doing a good job scheming out the top-2 defensive players in the NFL (Donald and Ramsey).

Run game comes down to up front blocking. How often do we see an o-lineman at the 2nd level blocking a LB?

Coaching and personnel AND the design of run plays are the culprit.

I think McVay can draw up better run plays. Not much else this team can change right now.

For the Rams to win the division, they have to win out AND Arizona has to lose 3 of their next 6. I don't see this drop of water landing in our hell.

Let's spend the next 6 games staying in the Wild Card slot and staying healthy.

This team is yet to peak at the best of it's ability.

It's more McVay than Stafford IMHO, but it's both. McVay calls a shitty game and Stafford turns the ball over too much. We're playing the game like it's the 4th quarter, in the first quarter.

It's McVay. Stafford (clearly injured) is a competent NFL QB. McVay does stupid things like go empty backfield inviting an all-out blitz and resulting chaos, leading to a fumble and points to GB. He has done this bonehead shit for 3 consecutive games with disastrous results. He doesn't learn. Going for it on 4th down on your own 29 IN THE FIRST QUARTER is probably the stupidest call i have ever seen. Not even a high school coach would do something that dumb. Total desperation. A complete failure to commit to the run when it was working in SF and Titans game. Always looking for long-developing shots down the field instead of having an outlet like Belicheck did with Edelamn, Amendola etc. (and still does). Little passing to the TE, especially for quick shots of 10 yards or less. Rare draws or jet sweeps to keep the defense honest. On top of this, he has no control over a clueless DC Morris who can't figure out that the 4 man rush is not getting there and QBs are picking apart the defense. You have to be a moron not to run some blitzes especially on 3rd and long. Then, you have the special teams which are the worst in the NFL. No wonder Bones got the hell out and is doing very well in Dallas. Then, you have idiotic draft picks such as shitty Tutu instead of taking Creed. It all adds up to a steaming pile of shit that can't beat good teams.

Its both. And its a lot more than both. McVay picked the wrong DC. This defense should not be this bad. I can see getting beat by an Aaron Rogers team. The guy is a first ballot Hall of Famer. But teams all year have controlled the clock on this defense. They gladly give the underneath stuff. Giving up a bunch of short plays all the way to the endzone. And keeping the offense off the field. So the offense comes on to face a defense who's fired up with momentum. 3 and out is no surprise.

I think Raheem Morris is on a short leash. At least I hope so. I noticed a worried look in his eye during the game yesterday. No way hes retained unless we go on some sort of winning streak.

Another angle is all the attrition to our coaching staff over the past few seasons is now taking a toll. LaFluer, Staley and the rest of the opportunists can go stick it.

I can see complaints about Morris from time to time. But his name shouldn't even enter the conversation about yesterdays game. That was all McVay, Stafford and STs.

The defense allowed 17 points on drives that started outside the Rams 29 yard line and held them to a FG on 2 of 3 drives starting inside the 30.

The defense played well enough to win that game going away. The offense scored 28 but gave up 17. STs gave up 3. Defense gave up 17. Who beares the brunt of that clusterfook? McVay and Stafford.
