Keeps repeating Nixon's talking point that the legislature had time to stop this which is completely false. John Diehl the former Speaker blocked anything that opposed the stadium. Publicly he said he was against it but it turned out that he was part of the initial planning in 2014.

In a way you have to feel for them. Guys like Bernie, JT and Howie always wished they could thrive in markets like LA or NY. However, they are really irrelevant media folks who just like to get on the soapbox for personal attention. They know full well they are truly a baseball town and football is not that important to ST. Louis

This is not encouraging unless I am missing something. NFL to help StL? What gives?
Sure wish the NFL was there for the LA Rams 20 years ago.

To sweeten STL stadium deal, city to give amusement tax to NFL team; But team will pay more in rent + NFL will add $100 million.

Tim McKernan ‏@tmckernan
From @davidhunn: The NFL came to STL to offer another $100M in exchange for the team not having to pay the amusement tax.

Tim McKernan ‏@tmckernan
From @davidhunn: The team will now pay $1.5M in rent for this new stadium. Before, it was $700k. That rent will now go to pay off this bond.

From @davidhunn: This development this a.m. says to me that the NFL may be trying to make it work with St. Louis.

NFL wants to put a good face on this, but in the end when Stan says no they can put there hands up and say they tried everything.

Well if Kroenke is behind this, it's over for us.

Really don't get why the NFL wants to protect this market. But they're okay saying f off to Oakland and SD.

77, I hope you're right.
There's been so much noise about Carson and too many favors being offered st. Louis,,, however the Chargers spin machine and the NFL avoiding lawsuits could be their motivation.

I calmed down and read the article. Not getting it honestly. Private contribution is going up by the league kicking in another 100 million and the NFL team paying more rent. But ticket taxes go back to the team? Plus the team is responsible for any overruns? Trying to figure out how this is better for SK in any fashion? I don't think SK would ask for this kind of a deal. This could be more NFL manipulation to try and torpedo St. Louis by saying, "look, we tried."
