OK, so I've been studying statistics and have come up with who I believe are the Top 40 LA Rams of all-time (I did not put anyone on the list that ONLY played for the Rams in St. Louis....sorry!)

This is just MY opinion, so feel free to debate (without ripping me apart)

A few thoughts:

*Isaac Bruce did play one year in LA, so (assuming that qualifies him), he should be on the list.

*If you're basing the ranking on what these players did as members of the Rams, Dickerson should be lower (given his short stay), as should Dick Lane. If its based on their careers, both with the Rams and elsewhere, Kevin Greene should be higher and Jerome Bettis probably should be on the list.

*Aaron Donald deserves a spot, and probably will one day be near the top.

*Some guys who might have a beef with being omitted: Jerry Gray, Doug Smith, Harold Jackson, Kent Hill, Rod Perry and Tom Newberry.

Great points. I did not include Isaac Bruce since (if I'm correct) he only played one year in LA

As I got toward the bottom (#35 to 40) I had about 10 guys for 5 spots (Yikes!)

I chose Elmendorf at the end over Kent Hill as number 40 but ALL those guys you mentioned were considered (Heck, Harold Jackson is one of my favorite players of all time)

Jerry Gray was also considered but I chose Elmendorf basically because Elmendorf played on better teams and (If I'm correct) he played a few years more than Gray

Maybe I should've done a Top 50 (Haha)

Either way, it was fun to do this. My buddies and I always get together in March after the season and do a Top 50 NFL QBs of all-time. Maybe I'll post that up here one day (It includes four Rams .....Van Brocklin, Warner, Waterfield, and Gabriel)

I'd put guys who played their entire careers as Rams higher on the list. Olsen, Youngblood, Slater, etc. Also, any Rams list that excludes Warner, Faulk and Bruce is going to be met with skepticism.

Maybe I'll re-do the list with all Rams (Cleveland, LA, St L, and LA again)

yeah, these lists are always tough, altho i think it's safe to say that you've netted most of the rams greats... a few things:

- bob "boomer" brown was only a ram for 2 seasons, started his career and made his name with the eagles for 5 years before joining the rams, then finished up with the raiders after the rams, so he was a ram for just 2 of his 8 years in the league.

-ollie matson was a perennial pro-bowler, first team all-pro with the cardinals during his first 6 years in the league, the rams gave up a king's ransom to get in his 7th year in the league, when he was 29, played 4 years for the rams during which time he never made the pro bowl or all-pro team, then he moved on to the lions and eagles, played for the rams just 4 of 14 nfl seasons.

- robustelli started with the rams, first 5 years, then finished his hof career with the giants over the next 9 years where he arguably cemented his great nfl career - when most old timers think of andy they think of him as a giant, not a ram.

- other rams greats that deserve consideration imo: roger brown, jon arnett, tank younger, dan towler, charlie cowan, don paul, jack pardee, joe scibelli....

Very true. Some of the greatest talent the Rams have ever had were on those St. Louis teams.
