NFL coaching hot seat rankings: Who's in trouble before Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is almost here, but many NFL head coaches probably don't have much longer to count blessings in their current roles.

Our weekly hot seat rankings:

1. Mike Pettine, Cleveland Browns: His team didn't play last weekend, which is why Johnny Manziel, whom Pettine just anointed as the starting quarterback, was seen back on the party circuit. Can you say "coach killer"? Last week: 3

2. Chuck Pagano, Indianapolis Colts: Matt Hasselbeck is keeping the Colts afloat after directing his third win. Unfortunately for Pagano, the 40-year-old quarterback doesn't have the clout to get him a deserved extension. Last week: 1

3. Jim Caldwell, Detroit Lions: The organizational chart is changing and so is the Lions' luck after two quality wins the past two weeks. Still, seems unlikely the next GM won't want to pick his own coach. Last week: 2

4. Chip Kelly, Philadelphia Eagles: His precious offense is losing steam. The defense just made the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look like the Greatest Show on Turf. And the locker room is showing signs of fraying. And, of course, Kelly may find greener pastures that don’t include Eagles green. Last week: 5

5. Mike McCoy, San Diego Chargers: It's one thing to lose six in a row amid a rash of injuries. But now Philip Rivers is yelling at his teammates on the sideline -- which is about the only fight the Bolts showed on Sunday during an embarrassing performance. Last week: not ranked

6. Jeff Fisher, St. Louis Rams: A pair of horrid losses threaten to leave the Rams shy of postseason yet again while saddling Fisher with his fourth consecutive losing season in St. Louis. The Case Keenum concussion debacle that occurred on his watch doesn't help matters, either. Last week: not ranked

7. Rex Ryan, Buffalo Bills: It's been 10 months since he told Bills Nation the team was heading to the playoffs for the first time this century. But Ryan still can't solve the Patriots. His vaunted defense has been lackluster with players questioning his scheme. And Sammy Watkins was throwing more tantrums Monday night. Does it add up to more empty promises from Rex? Could Buffalo tire of this quickly? Last week: not ranked

Dropped out (for now): Gus Bradley, Jacksonville Jaguars; Sean Payton, New Orleans Saints; Jim Tomsula, San Francisco 49ers

Yeah, makes sense that the Chargers and Rams will move to LA with new HCs.

I know most think Stan is a good owner regarding his other teams, but I'm still on the fence. We stand a real chance of finishing worse than last year...that would be 4 consecutive seasons of getting worse each year. Hard to give a man a 5th year and expect something different to happen.

Before the season started, I expected the team to win between 7-9 games and thought there was no chance that Fisher didn't make the move to LA with the Rams. Now that it looks like they'll win 7-8 games at most, I still think it's unlikely that Fisher will be fired.

Get Fish off that list.
I'd be shopping a new HC but wouldn't throw the current one out without an O coordinator change and a decent QB just yet. jmo, as unpopular as Fishydude seems to be getting.

Our alter-egos at the PD have now put up a "Stan or Fisher, who would you rather see go?" thread. Surprised they seem to hate Fisher more.
In another thread a tweet for some local journalist tweeted, Fisher is expected to get an extension. The replies surprised me. Some of the die hards are actually saying if that's the case then LA can have them.
Watch these guys make it their idea if the team leaves. lol
Sorry I digressed.

If they continue to play like they've played the last couple of weeks (especially against the Bears), they'll have a hard time winning 7 games. I think they'll beat the Lions and Bucs at home and beat the Niners on the road.
