Or, it opens up the entire SoCal market (including San Diego) for the Rams as well.

I don't see this hurting the Rams at all, unlike if the Raiders came to LA.

I don't see SD remaining vacant. It's why I thought the Chargers would never move. At some point, some team is going to swoop in and claim that city. Which will further dilute the overall SoCal market.

Spanos is a greedy idiot.

Well, I'm not going to get worked up about what may or may not happen in San Diego at some later unknown time.

For now, San Diego is an open market the Rams can take advantage of.

Any chance the NFL does the same thing it did with Los Angeles and says "The San Diego market is now the league's property. No one team can market there?"

San Diegans hate LA though. I'd say that that market isn't going to embrace any team from LA, much less the one that gave the Chargers the opportunity to leave San Diego.

Well, I just watched McVay's presser with two Charger fans who are now happy to follow the Rams.

Additionally my ex, as much as we don't get a long now, let me know he will now be a Rams fan cuz Fuck the Chargers.

People are people, not cities.

btw, I'm not saying all of San Diego will love the Rams, I'm saying it's a viable market to gain SOME fans in now.

I agree.

The Raiders already had a following. The real reason they were able to establish it was because the Rams moved out of LA proper and GF turned the Rams into a powder puff team.
All the while the Raiders had their 'commitment to excellence' thing going on and winning Superbowl.

Now we are back in LA proper and SD is the enemy (at least re baseball).

SD is also close enough that the Rams have always been on their radar. Combine that with the deserved anger SD football fans have against the Chargers ownership, I could see many of them crossing over. I totally welcome them with open arms.

Part of me hopes Spanos fails miserably,, and the best way to get even if you are a San Diego football fan is to root against them now. Get horned.

Did I say "people" as in some individuals or did I say "market"?

I hope you're right and SD becomes just the first step in the Rams becoming a team that has strong contingents across the USA like the Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, etc. I just don't see it happening.

This is really shaping up to be Giants/Jets West
The Chargers are really botching this and will always be the little brother to the Rams like the Jets are to the Giants.
