I don't claim to be able to run a league but how did the XFL not plan the whole season with games on over the air channels? FS2? Seriously? If you're relying on people ferreting out your games then you're planning to fail. If they couldn't set up a season's worth of games on the major networks then they should have known that they weren't going to make it. The stands at the LA/TB game looked about 1/3 full. It's not looking good for the future of the league.

The only thing I can think of is everyone has their broadcast schedule this weekend full with college basketball conference championships. And those are probably multi year contracts that were already in place.

If the NCAAB tournament was that big of a competitor then maybe they should have had a bye week? The metrics of your games being pushed onto minuscule channels is more damaging than taking a week off.

Probably.

The Big East conference championship is on FS1. Big 12 on ESPN. Big 10 Sat/Sun on CBS. SEC on ESPN. I'm sure there are others that are bumping.

Here in L.A. I've been watching most of them on OTA channels.

You make a great point.
Why not have a bye week?

One can only guess that if the XFL copies the other leagues, this will be something they can't recover from.

This whole situation may eventually work to the XFL's favor. If the delay isn't too prolonged, the XFL can come back just when sports fans are starving for something watch. With the NCAA cancelling March Madness, it's a unique marketing opportunity.

It’s over. They won’t be getting back to play any sooner than than the other leagues.
NHL/NBA are going to want to start playoffs ASAP, MLB will push to open their season. And these XFL guys surely aren’t going to be financially set during the delay considering how little they are paid. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear the league is cancelled within a week
