Hacksaw wrote:Probably not. The only thing I can think of would be the disappointment by many long time Rams fans if they did go Ferragamo and then replaced those with the new look design in a year or 2 when the stadium opened. This way they are avoiding that...

Any way you look at it, it comes down to the Rams over-thinking the problem. Fans have wanted the uniform changed for at least the last 5 or 6 years. Even a large number of the fans in St. Louis wanted change -- not as universally as the L.A. fans, but still a sizable number. Fans of the L.A. Rams call them the Ferragamos. The STL fans called them the '99s.

We've heard so much about the rules requiring a 2-year lead time on a uniform change, but the change could have happened before the Rams left St. Louis if they had just put in the request when it became obvious that the old uni had to go. And all they had to do was go back to the uniform that is the current throwback. No over-thinking required.

I think its the reverse, that the fans are over thinking it....
The Rams are complying with the rule that's in place, in fact they tweaked it to try and get the blue and white in there. They are doing what they can under the guidelines.
So yeah, I think that there is way too much over thinking here

16 years for this Rams fan.
If it aint broke don't fix it applies here too. No over-thinking then would have saved us a lot of over-thinking now. :?

I still remember the season ticket holder luncheon like 5 years ago where Demoff said:
-the St. Louis Rams were going to do a uniform change and it would be an "almost complete rollback". He hinted a rollback to the navy and whites had been presented but that a "team about 200 miles straight east" (the Indianapolis Colts) objected.
-the Rams would stay in St. Louis and preferred a new "a fully open air stadium option" and not the heavy remodel of the Dome proposed at the time by the team.

Even if remaining in StL was their plan "B", he was likely planning that way he spoke. They may have 'secretly' wanted to split but there were certainly no assurances that they could,, right?.
I believe he meant what he was saying, but you just couldn't hear the word "if" that he spoke under his breath at the end of his sentences.

An "almost complete rollback" would be about as far back as Demoff can remember and gauging his age, the B&W's would be what he first saw. The Rams were B&G prior to his memory limitations.

I think the look is going to be on the right track now ,, as long as the new design is solid,, but I'm really listening hard for that quiet "if", just in case.

Why can't the equipment manager "accidentally" bleach the gold numbers on the blue uniforms when the Rams are forced to wear them?

The NFL can be so stupid sometimes. The two year requirement should have been waived with the move back to LA.

In line with the over thinking theme....

The NFL signs extremely lucrative deals with uniform suppliers, and merchandise providers. I would be quite sure that the 2 year deal is part of their agreement, not necessarily between the NFL and the teams. The Rams found out they were returning to LA in January 2016. I can surely see why the uniforms weren't the 1st thing on the agenda

It does make me wonder if Demoff is the one wanting the blue and white scheme.
