The outrage-o-meter is at a 2 or maybe a 3 out of 10. It would have to be epic to unseal the full emails.

And if they are released (by some miracle) don't tell me we won't get a Nixon Tapes type missing 18 minutes.

I’m wondering, seeing Gruden and MCV are so close, if any “bad” emails were exchanged between the two. Man I hope MCV is smarter than that.

Good point to ponder. I forgot that McVay was the OC in Washington.

McVay spent the previous three seasons at Washington under head coach Jay Gruden, Jon’s brother, and Jon Gruden hired McVay for his first NFL job eight years ago, as a low-level assistant in Tampa Bay.

As does mine. Maybe that's just hope, but....

He just seems somewhat different than Gruden. Both driven but McV doesn't come off as angry. Both high energy but McV doesn't come off as cocky. Gruden comes off like a dictator, McVay comes off as a teacher.

But of course we never know.

That kind of personality (Gruden), the bigotry, the misogyny, etc. is not natural, it's learned. At an early age. I wonder about Jay, whom McVay was much closer to than Jon. But he grew up in the same household.

Isn't that what this is all about? Poor judgement? The mistake was "putting it down in writing".

Working 20 years for the state we all knew one thing, if it isn't something you would say in front of a group of people do not put it in writing. It could come back to bite you one day.

Adam Schefter is a league mouthpiece? *gasp*

Another aspect of the emails produced in the Arizona dispute between Snyder and Allen has created a stir. In July 2011, Allen and ESPN’s Adam Schefter corresponded regarding a story related to the efforts to conclude the lockout. Schefter actually sent Allen the full draft of a story that Schefter planned to publish, for Allen’s review and approval.

“Please let me know if you see anything that should be added, changed, tweaked,” Schefter wrote. “Thanks, Mr. Editor, for that and the trust. Plan to file this to espn about 6 am. . . .”

Via Farmer and Fenno, ESPN released the following statement in response to that message: “Without sharing all the specifics of the reporter’s process for a story from 10 years ago during the NFL lockout, we believe that nothing is more important to Adam and ESPN than providing fans the most accurate, fair and complete story.”

The email became relevant to the dispute between Allen and Snyder because Allen had insisted in a sworn statement that he “maintained a low profile with respect to the media” and that he “never served as an anonymous source for any news or media reports.”
