My ill fated hopes of B Cooks for Trent Williams trade have been dashed.

Although a shiny new 2nd round pick for him would be nice.

Sucks taking the hit, but I like seeing them be aggressive. I'm also excited about them really attacking the two TE thing next year. A lot of Higbee and Everett together should be a fucking nightmare for defenses.

I like it too but extending ppl before we have to, even tho they deserve the money, is that really being aggressive?

And obviously I’m speaking now with the benefit of hindsight. When we extended them I said we were doing the right thing because after the first 2 years of the deals we would look like geniuses as the cap goes up. Lol @ me

Well, if Gurley was entering this year after another 2000 total yard 15 td season.. would anyone be complaining? This wasn't a "you don't pay an old RB" thing, to me. But that's me.
Cooks? Slightly overpaid, but not nearly the way people act.

And.. I think your point is dead on.. if everything worked out, those deals would've been values, at some point.

Most important thing to me is Snead knew when to cut bait... and, will be how well he drafts. I'm of the mindset that he's drafted well, but he needs a 17-like draft this year for the team to jump back up to the 12 win level, imo.

Yup. Nobody could have seen the Todd Gurley thing coming. And the cooks concussions were unfortunate as well.

I like Snead. I like how he moves quickly and decisively. You’ve made a great point about how we absolutely have to nail the draft to stay a 12 win team. I will lower my expectations for next season and it’s ok if we’re not contenders immediately which I don’t think we will be but we will only know once the game are played.

ain't that the livin' truth, beats the hell out of the days when you had to pay rookies a king's ransom before they ever played an nfl down. :shock2:

sam bradford $76 million
reggie bush $62 million
jason smith $61 million
jamarcus russell $61 million
aaron curry $60 million
tyson jackson $57 million
mark sanchez $50 million
kellen winslow jr $40 million
darrius heyward-bey $38 million

etc., etc., etc.

That is if we keep Woods this season. We do have to find money somewhere. This team is $5.4M over the cap. There is no money to sign rookies.

If they trade Woods, the offense is done. He's the guy...THE GUY. Kupp is great but without Woods, how good would Kupp perform....I mean with the defense watching him? Plus Kupp has already gone down with a serious injury. Woods is clutch. He's tough and can take a hit. And he's probably one of the best blockers in the NFL. Ain't no rookie gonna come in and replace that. He's worth more than he's paid. They aren't getting rid of Woods.

I agree! No way they are trading Woods. The trio of Woods, Kupp and Reynolds is an outstanding group. Given the WR depth in this draft I expect them to choose a young guy for the future as well.

The extra 2nd round pick makes this draft much more interesting. I sincerely doubt Snead sits still and just makes picks where we sit....

I don't think they have a choice but to keep Woods. We had 3 quality receivers. Now we have two. We don't wanna be down to one. Reynolds is a nice receiver, but he's not on Woods level.
