One thing I didn’t consider, too hard to guess, was that the Rams would not add just their cut players to the PS. They will also potentially add waived players from other teams.

They may have to add waived players from other teams. We have been watching preseason and truly believe this is the deepest camp roster we've seen since McVay arrived. If that is truly the case, we will probably see a lot of our cuts end up on other teams before we can put them on the PS. I'm sure our staff will choose wisely and it may present a few "surprises".

Waived WR J.J. Laap, OLs Blake Larson, Alec Lindstrom, Matt Kaskey and Grant Miller, RB SaRodorick Thompson, QB Dresser Winn and DB Cameron McCutcheon. Released RB Boston Scott and DE Carlos Watkins.

I guess they thought Zach Evans did enough in preseason to beat out Scott.

Good chance Evans is getting the axe too though also a good chance he ends up on the PS if he does...

I would hope the Rams sign a vet (if a decent one comes available) to the practice squad, just to get another QB experience in the Rams system in case we get some injuries.

BTW, it used to be if you put a player on IR before the cutdown, he was out for the year. If you waited till after you made your 53 and then put a player on IR, only had to be out for 4 weeks. But that player counted towards your 53 and you had to cut someone else to do it.

Now you can put 2 players on IR before the cutdown that can still be back after 4 weeks.

Not sure this helps the Rams this year but it's a thing...

It actually could. Havs might be a longer term issue. When a coach says he’s not going to IR but no timetable that tells me at least a few weeks.

Missing both starting tackles for at least a week or two isn't good. But they've improved the OL depth for sure. Does that require carrying 9 OL with only 8 available (Alaric being suspended doesn't count vs the 53 does it)? If the OL depth is as good as we think it is....or as they say it is.....then IR-ing Hav is the smart move. Alaric will be back in week 3 and then they have McClendon and Noteboom at RT for 2 weeks. I'd rather IR Hav than lose a player via a cut that somebody else might grab.

It looks like they will keep Conor McDermott as one of their OTs. He would probably start at RT though he's played both LT and RT. His experience gives him the edge over McClendon. I think they will try to keep Noteboom at LT (IMO it will be his start to lose this year). McDermott probably fills in for Havenstein since he's probably going to be gone at least 4 games.

If McDermott who has shown himself to be a decent journeyman level starter he could be viewed as a bridge RT depending upon how they feel about McClendon. When he was signed I thought he might be basically a preseason fill in on the OL but with Rob likely to start the season on IR (missing a minimum of 4 games) I think the Rams are playing it safe by keeping McDermott. I think Rob is probably looking at returning after the bye which comes early this year.

McClendon looked better than expected in preseason but playing against starters is another thing entirely. Keeping Conor makes sense. Because he has played both sides he also would make a decent swing OT if they go with Noteboom and McClendon.

I could see the Rams keeping 9 OL this year. Starters Noteboom, Jackson, Avila, Dotson and McClendon. Swings McDermott, Arcuri, Limmer, Bruss or Thomas (one on the active the other on the PS).

I think Durden makes the 53
