Can they be a contender without Ramsey? Can what they get in return make them better? Maybe in the long term. But I don't think so in the short term. If they think they can field a contender trading him would be a mistake. But do they look at it that way? If they don't think they can contend then maybe its best to start the rebuild and trade him for more draft assets. I personally think they have to try and be a contender. Instead of extending Ramsey, the Rams are trying to get allocate some cheaper talent via the draft to help the overall team. IMO they want to add young pass rush talent.
