And we should savor how lucky we are to have Stafford - probably for 3 more seasons. He gives this team a legit shot if the rest of the offense is in sync. Like I said in some other thread; if the O is back to 30+/game, the D need only be decent and opportunistic in the turnover/field position department. STs need to not make big mistakes, just be decent and consistent.

That’s how I see this season playing out. Then in ‘24 the D and STs will improve, the offense will gel more and probably add more playmakers. We should be in the SB hunt both seasons and really primed in’24.

Didn't he play the majority of his career in Detroit with a.....less than stellar defense? Twice he got Detroit into the postseason with lower ranked D's. #18 in yards in 2016 and #23 in 2011. Hell in L.A., he only had the #17 ranked D in 2021.

He had 41 TDs vs 16 Int, 5038 yds and a 97.2 QB rating in 2011.
He had 24 TDs vs 10 Int, 4327 yds and a 93.3 QB rating in 2016

Then in McVay's offense he had 41 TDs vs 17 Int, 4886 yds and a 102.9 QB rating.

So he's taken his team to the postseason with mediocre to worse defenses. He's won there with a great offensive coach. It's all about the offense. Just score baby!!! :lol2:

So where do you see this improvement on offense coming from? The Rams were at 18.1 pts in 22, it's hard for me to believe, that on just less injuries alone, this team will double their output. They scored < 14, 8 times last season. They were abysmal. Now add in a weakened defense and a complete reboot of special teams. I just dont see it unless they draft the next OBJ....

Stafford 8 games missed
Kupp 8 games missed
Noteboom 11 games missed
Allen 10 games missed
Shelton 4 games missed
Robinson 7 games missed
Akers 2 games missed
Jefferson 6 games missed

Anchrum back up OL injured in 1st game
Jackson back up OL injured, 8 games missed

14 PPG? I understand.

I think health alone will improve the offense. How much? Remains to be seen. I also believe they will draft a RB who can step in day 1 and play. They brought Stafford on in 2021 and went from 20 PPG to 27 PPG. That was without serious injury losses in 2020. Was that all Stafford? I don't think so but just having Stafford and Kupp and the OL and our RBs should make a huge difference. But just like 28 or 30 PPG is nothing more than an arbitrary figure for where we need to be, our defense allowing ______ is an abritrary figure also.

Tanner Mauck. I got a guy for y’all to look at Tanner Mauck Quarterback Fresno State very good. Can throw. Nice arm has poise. He reminds of Aaron Rodgers he’s sneaky mobile.

He got hurt. But i think he can sit for three seasons and learn from Matthew Stafford. He’s smart and I’d really like him in our offense with him I’m thinking 3rd 4th round.

I DO see health as a huge difference maker. I also see the Rams adding at least 2 skill position players before the start of the season. And when I say add, I mean guys who will play significant snaps. TE and RB and/or WR. They will probably also target a returner who will be developed into a back up/rotational positional player; WR, RB, corner.

So that is the path to 30+/game avg. in my book. Health is a huge part of my assumption.

Just being healthy I can see another 3 to 5 wins.

I def believe that injuries did us in last year, the offensive line broke apart in record fashion which unraveled into the rest of the team.

A healthy Rams team will go a long way in helping this team compete. The reasons why I am skeptical and can be somewhat optimistic about the offense...

1. I'm not someone who thinks the o-line is bad or we should have saw this coming, BUT the line does have something to prove in terms of durability and playing together now. It is a semi-unknown, but I lean towards it being solid but not spectacular.

2. The offense scored starting with Game 1- 10, 27, 20, 9, 10, 24, 14, 13 (Tampa). I ended at Tampa, because after that, the season was basically over and the scores don't really matter good or bad. IMO the offense struggled due to o-line starting to deteriorate, lack of VJ and Stafford overuse of Kupp. So IF we have all our weapons ready for Day 1 our offense should be better. Just having a healthy VJ is a big boost, but I still feel we are a weapon or two from scoring 30+ ( I dont think high 20's gets it done, really need to be closer to 35 pts). As it appears we will not sign anyone significant offensively in FA for the offense, the Rams must hit on one of the their first 3 draft picks. IMO either a RB or WR would make the biggest impact and they have to be a difference maker now. I know we need a TE but I they typically dont make a huge impact upfront and we still have Higs. I def think they should draft on a bit later. I also hope a training camp with all the weapons working with Staff will help him with the over reliance with Kupp.

3. Complete reboot of special teams. I think when you are a team that will need to outscore opponents... field position matters i.e kickoffs, punting, return game etc etc. I would say under McVay the Rams have been up and down when it comes to finding specialists. Hekker basically found Gay after the experiment with Sloman (yikes). They have found punters, but are terrible with finding productive returners. So to me this is a big unknown.

4. The one optimistic thing is, I think the coaching staff is in a better than last year and the coaches/team is going to be hungrier.
