Well I'm not sure about that,,,,

NE got a 3rd round pick in 2021 for Brady leaving as a FA to TB and he is more than a 10yr vet.

The formula is based on salary, experience and a few other requirements.

A third or fourth rd pick down the road would make me feel better.

But you know, I was listening to Colin and he's got a point...where is a 2nd or 3rd rd pick going to play in the next couple yrs for the Rams? Not WR. Not QB. Not RB if Akers returns. Even OL is looking tough to crack if Noteboom signs. Maybe a spot or two on D, but there are already talented young guys waiting in the wings.

The rams use high picks to bring in star players and rely on lower round picks and unsung FA's to develop into (eventually) very good complementary players. And the formula is working.

Other teams' fans and the press are starting to pressure their front offices about making similar splash moves.

Who needs better DBs when our pass rush is gonna be tough to deal with. Think of the upside - E Jones is better in coverage than K Young was and with all the short dink and dunk routes you'll have to focus on when playing our front 7, just by getting Miller in the door, makes defenses attack our biggest weakness less.

McSnead are playing 3D chess with this move.

Love these guys!!! Lets get that Lombardi!!!!

Exactly, and if we lose a good player to FA, then will get a comp back, doesn't matter what round, but the higher the better...

I think this trade was a no brainer, We basically get a proven future HOF vet, for a second rd pick,,, I believe the 3rd pick is just a wash, because we will get a comp pick back, if he leaves,

The difference between 3 to 7, is not that much,,,
now from 1 to 15 pick in the first round,,,
your chances are a lot better,,,
But even then, that can be a bust too.

The draft is a crap shoot,
you can get lucky in the lower rounds..
You will never know,,,
like: Deacon Jones/11thrd, Warner/UDFA, Higbee/4th, Kupp/3rd, Noteboom/3rd, SJD/6th, Edwards/5h, Corbett/traded for a 5th, Allen/4th, Fuller/6th just to name a few.

But what I do know,,, Snead and his scouts and doing a great job...

I'm noticing a lot of the negative reviews come from draftniks and ex-GM's (looking at you, Mike Tannenbaum). For draftniks, obviously, draft picks are their life source. With GM's I think it's about ego, i.e. what I could do with those draft picks. Fortunately Snead doesn't fall into that trap and looks at historical trends.

This is a huge get for us.

BTW, Reggie White went from the Eagles to the Packers in 1993 when he was 32 years old. He played for the Packers until he was 37, he was a ProBowler every year with GB, and was instrumental in them winning the SB in 1996 when he was 35.

I like this one...

They are super bold, if it doesn't pay off they have little draft capital.
