If these emails had come out 10 years ago, Gruden would've been fired from ESPN and never gotten a HC gig so i don't think the, "it was 10 years ago" thing works in this case.

Plus when's it going to stop 10 years from now we'll be saying well that was said 10 years ago...If there are no repercussions it will be a never ending cycle.

Why would they want Gruden out? Unless they knew someone else had the emails or could get them. Making the nfl look like they were “shielding” a bigot. The nfl wants no part of bigotry, the overt kind anyway, so they staked him out like a sacrificial lamb. But he wasn’t goin out like that and hit eject.
I find it interesting that Tirico and Dungy and Gruden himself told us he wasn’t that guy, when evidence seems to contradict that.

Maybe it's muscle memory? Al Davis, a Raider was ALWAYS at odds with the NFL front office. Gruden, a Raider sent e-mails calling Goodell a fa**ot and basically 'bad for football'. And who has 'control' of where those e-mails go?

The NFL is on a mission to include EVERYBODY...gay, female, minorities, particularly hispanic.....and fight against bigotry, misogyny, bullying.

According to those e-mails, that is Jon Gruden. So....kill 2 birds with one stone?

I saw it in twitter--guys saying, hey what if everyone had to reveal their emails from 10 years ago?! Well, it wouldn't be "everyone." Some would have problems cause of that, a lot wouldn't. It was 2012, not 1962.

And there are people who would still "pass" even if it were 1962.
