That didn't go well.

1) Strap Yu Darvish to the tip of a missile and send him back to where he came from as soon as possible. The End

Houston had the hurricane Irma juju and it worked.

The playoffs were a microcosm of the 2017 season for the Dodgers. Started off ridiculous,, winning everything. But then faltering at the end.

The good new is the Dodgers are set up to win for years to come. Young, well managed (save a few gaff's in the post season, like pulling Hill too early game 2 and letting Darvish out of the locker room last night) and very well funded. We haven't seen the last of this team by a long shot.

And spring training is less than 100 days away.

1) If Kershaw had the arm to throw 4 innings, why didnt he start?
2) Why did they leave Darvish in for so long?? It was clear he didnt have his stuff

After his previous start I wouldn't have let him go out for the second inning. You just knew he wouldn't keep them off the scoreboard that inning.

Even with that the pitchers that came in after didn't allow a run the rest of the way. The hitters went down very meekly. Pederson was the only one who hit more than .300 in the series. Bellinger was almost an automatic strikeout. I think he set a record for the most strikeouts in a series. All they did was throw breaking balls down and in to him and he never adjusted.

I see some fans in the Dodgers forum not wanting Darvish back. After the sting of the loss has worn off I think most will realize he would be a good option as a number 3 or 4 pitcher in the rotation. He was not good most of this season but he's a former all star with plenty left in the tank. If the price is right, I would take a chance on him. Honeycutt is a good pitching coach. With a full spring training he could easily correct whatever caused the problems.

Being down 2-0 is a different game than being down 5-0
I just dont understand how if Kershaw can give you a couple innings, how he doesnt start the game. Houston feasts on RH pitching

I agree. Kershaw said the day before he felt good enough to give them 27 outs. He's your ace. Your go to guy. I don't care if its short rest. He shoulda started. These are the moments guys like him are made for. And Roberts took it out of his hands. Roberts has done a good job pulling all the right strings since he's been manager but this was one big mistake he'll have to live with.

Yeah, it seemed if Bellinger was on, the Dodgers were hard to beat, when he wasn't, well last night happens.

Darvish is going to want $,, he didn't earn it here, I think he's gone. There are plenty of other arms out there and the Dodgers are an attractive destination.
Me thinks Magic is going to pitch the need for more arms to the Illuminati ownership and ask them to go deeper into their wallets (and penalties) to stack the deck without Darvish. I appreciate your measured reasonable approach but he's dead to me now.

Agreed our hot bat's went ice cold for the most part through a lot of the series. Turner disappeared, Bellinger, Utley, even Puig towards the end. The Asstros pitchers got over.

MLB needs to get the 'ball' thing straightened out too. Why change them in the first place? To get more hitting/scoring? Well it worked to the dismay of solid pitching staffs around the league.

And yes to this and pulling Hill early in game 2.

Darvish cost himself millions of dollars with his World Series performance. Possibly tens of millions.

With all of the disappointment (Roberts decisions, Jansen blowing a save in game 2, Bellinger flailing away, DARVISH etc.) I think I was most disappointed with Kershaw in game 5.

The "best pitcher of our generation" gets handed a 4 run lead and immediately blows it. They quickly get him another good lead and he blows it again. I've been defending his post-season performance for years (bad luck, small sample size, terrible bullpen so they left him in too long etc.) but no more. If he doesn't fall apart twice in the same game, the Dodgers are champs.

Had his 4 innings of shut out ball last night been the first 4 innings of the game, he may have redeemed himself. But I agree, 4-0 up that game should have been over. Then 7-4?? No way lightening should strike twice
