I am sure the spin will be that there was strong support from the crowd and of course they will leave out that the majority of the supporters weren't city residents.

Well, I expected the full spin cycle mode. So far, regular media coverage seems to be ok (yeah, I haven't checked that irregular media yet):

Football fans and foes gather at St. Louis riverfront for stadium argument
http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt ... b9bb4.html
Excerpt:
Some attendees cracked open beers before the three-hour meeting began around 11 a.m., while others held up homemade signs.

The event, marked with disagreements and some salty language, showcased the nature of the divided region: particularly the St. Louis and St. Louis County divide.

The crowd often displayed a heated back-and-forth when attendees announced where they live.

Jeff Aboussie, the executive secretary-treasurer at the St. Louis Building and Construction Trades Council who spoke about the thousands of jobs the project would bring, drew boos when he disclosed he lives in St. Louis County.

Well, y'know what they say -- sports bring communities together. . . . wait a minute.

I gotta admit, I was surprised about how divisive and heated the stadium issue is over there. I guess that silly NFL town hall thing gave us just a tantalizing glimpse of it.

This divide stems from the whole Peacock avoiding a publuc vote at all costs. County officials said from the start that they would not contribute without a vote as the St. Louis city statute had required. Nixon then cut out the county and then got a friendly judge to overturn the statute requiring a public vote on a new stadium.

Weak turnout at this yesterday and people in the Loo are already making excuses for a low turnout and big Bears turn out to the game today.

there were a few more than originally thought, but certainly no wow factor at all. More like a thud.
They community doesn't look solid at all. All this news of that community has me wanting the Rams out all the more. I have a hard time supporting that place anymore.
