Do you get the feeling it's all on the Rams? What I mean is "interest". I would think he sees the writing on the wall. Nobody called him all season and there were a ton of QB injuries. Who's going to offer him a starting job? Probably nobody. Why wouldn't you want to stick around McVay? Stafford could get injured or retire and if you know the system....2-3 years backing him up, there's your chance at a ring and redemption. Plus the job ain't too shabby.....hold a clipboard, run the scout team, watch a great football team on Sunday's and win.

Assuming Stafford plays through his contract and retires, 2027 will be the first shot Wentz would have to be the starting quarterback. He'll be 34 at the beginning of the season and 35 by the end. I suppose if he changes his style and stays in the pocket more its doable.

But it would have to take a lot of patience on his part to be holding a clipboard for 3 seasons waiting for his opportunity. Not to mention if Stafford goes down for several games and Wentz plays well during that time, other teams might be tempted to make him an offer and give him a chance at starting again. If he stuck around for 3 years I would expect each season would be on a one year contract.

Thanks for this. What is interesting is how many of these folks will be utterly out of the NFL in 2024. Over 200 draft picks and then some undrafted FAs will make teams. The NFL is truly the Not For Long league.

No but the Rams are clearly interested in adding additional talent to the WR.
They meant with standout WR Rome Odunze at the combine, who knows what they might do in the first round....
