Dean's plan was successful, his Carson sham will lead to him playing in the nicest stadium in the league and I guarantee you Kroenke will fit the majority of the tab in Inglewood. For a relocation fee, his team valuation increases and he moves into the number 2 media market.

I agree with this. A ton of money was spent. Fans in San Diego trashed. Fans in StL and LA pitted against one another dividing the fan base. Raiders fans hopes up in LA and dashed in Oakland, prominent men putting their name on it,, ets.

It has that appearance because Carson is a big bag of gas but I have my doubts that this isn't pretty close to what it has appeared and Spanos is simply losing.

Gotta agree, this thing has been chaotic, badly managed and everyone looks bad, especially the NFL who come off like keystone cops...

That's a follow the money kind of thing.

But i don't think that analysis works here. The relo fee is going to be $550 mil (paid by NFL owners), the NFL will probably help the Raiders with some NFL money. If the plan was to fleece SD, Oak, and St. Louis out of their money, get them to pour public money into the NFL, well that sure doesn't seem to be how this is going to play out...

While this is true for us, I gotta believe that 95% of NFL fans aren't even aware of most of this. They probably know that one or two of the teams are likely moving to LA and that's about it.

If it's true that all 3 teams will walk away satisfied, I think the NFL will look just fine.

Let me ask this. It's been stated that the Spanos family net worth is the Chargers. They have perhaps another $200 - $500 in cash and other assets =$1.69 billion.
So my question is, how does Spanos pay for his share in Inglewood? $1B construction costs,, $550M relocation fee. That's the equivalent to their entire net worth. A potential problem could be that he can't call GS for a loan. Would Kroenke allows Dean to put a lien against his building for a loan of that size? I'm not sure Spanos can afford this.

I suppose Spanos could make the same deal with Kroenke as he has with GS: Use Dean's share of PSL and naming rights money to pay his share...

I guess the bank of Kroenke would be the safest bet for Stan. He could simple call the note on his own place if the Chargers default. What a mess that would become. Spanos would be in a better position as a tenant imo. Either way, I can see why he would be reluctant to do either.

No matter which team moves into which stadium, they will not be writing 9-figure+ checks to get this done. They'll all have the backing of investors up front (even uber-rich Kroenke).

The NFL kept fans in seats (except in StL) and in front of TV sets during the last several, or more, seasons while all of this went on, keeping advertisers and sponsors satisfied.

In the end, as I predict, the only loser is StL. As SD, Oakland and LA get new stadiums, with the Rams moving to the 2nd largest market where they are clearly still in high demand.

I think the NFL did quite well balancing everyone's needs, and the PR campaign worked well. Remember, most don't see the mistakes and missteps. You have to have a team of people watching all of the details. And that team has to be relatively alert and intelligent. The group here meets that criteria, so we get to see the errors. But step away from the detail, look at the fan on the street, and the plan achieved its objectives, or at least it will in the end - still a few more years to play out.
