I do it all the time. It works better than the DTV fast forward functionality and allows you to skip whatever you want, go backward and forward to visually pinpoint where you want to be. If you pause and change to a different channel you start right where you stopped when you return. Where do you get these ideas?rams74 wrote:For me, DVR is important. With DirecTV DVR, I can fast forward while still being able to see what's on the screen, so I can fast forward over commercials or touchdown celebrations by opponents of the Rams and their fans. If I'm watching a non-Rams game, I can fast forward over game action and still get the gist of things.I have yet to see a reasonable way to do that with a streaming service. Some services offer a cloud DVR feature, but it's clunky and featureless, and when you fast forward you can't see what's on the screen, so you can't tell when to stop. I understand YoutubeTV subscription offers a cloud DVR feature, but I'm not holding my breath that it would be worth much. I mean, I agree that the cloud DVR is better than nothing. At least it allow you to start watching a game in progress. But I hate commercials and timeouts and half-times.Maybe in the future the streaming DVR features will improve. I can't see any reason why they couldn't technologically. But that's no guarantee that they will. After all, the NFL and broadcasters love commercials. by azramsfan93 2 years 2 months ago Total posts: 1559 Joined: Jun 30 2015 Chandler, Arizona Pro Bowl The Future of the NFL on TV: Sunday Ticket to YouTube POST #432 Last year I paid $365 for ST and the RZ channel from DIRECTV. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.Granted, I have no experience with YTTV, I'm just going by my experience with streaming services in general. If YTTV is substantially different then I apologize for slandering a superior streaming service.DirecTV DVR has 4 different fast forward/reverse speeds. I can fast forward at speeds 1 and 2 and still follow game action. 3 and 4 are tough, though you can still see enough to figure out where to stop and/or reduce speed. Some streaming services' fast forward shows nothing on the screen at all while in FF (just a timer). Others show the clipped still images like you referred to, maybe every 15 seconds. It's enough to figure out where to stop, but you can't follow a game that way. And getting out of a commercial at the right spot is tough to get just right, it just fast forwards too fast to be precise.Plus, without the virtual DVR function, it's impossible. If you want to watch a game that's already in progress, it throws you into the live feed. You can't start from the beginning, you jump straight into the second quarter, or third quarter, or wherever the live game is. And if you want to wait to see the entire game from the beginning, the on-demand version of the game isn't available until about 4 hours after the game has ended. What's up with that? It's ridiculous.Again, if YouTube is substantially different that all that, then I apologize for lumping them in with all the rest of the dreck. 1 by azramsfan93 2 years 2 months ago Total posts: 1559 Joined: Jun 30 2015 Chandler, Arizona Pro Bowl The Future of the NFL on TV: Sunday Ticket to YouTube POST #435 rams74 wrote:Granted, I have no experience with YTTV, I'm just going by my experience with streaming services in general. We all still get 4 Sunday games to watch every week, I will see the Rams a minimum of probably 5-6 games (always get the whiners v Rams games) depending on how many national TV games they get. YT doesnt have some channels that are important to me and the wife, so will not be signing up with the YT service and I wouldnt pay the ST non YT subscriber cost. I will be looking into other options that I have used in the past. It’s a free country, at least it used to be. Not so much if you live in California. Subscriptions on DIRECTV were limited by the number of satellite users. YT is only limited to people that have internet. I would wager that YT will get many more subscribers than DIRECTV did, but we will see. The myth that AT&T gave away ST for free to anyone who asked is just that. They paid too much for the content to just give it away to everyone. I will be relaxing in my family room watching every minute of all 17 games on my 65” LG OLED this fall. Given I will spend way less than in past years is only icing on the cake. Enjoy. actionjack wrote:yes YT is the only option Sunday Ticket option for the next 7 years. If it proves a success I am sure there will be competition for the next contract. So far with the MLS being streaming only with Apple (besides sports bars) there have been a rocky few weeks. So far eight weeks into the soccer season:-twice there have been issues with replays. Games worked fine but then if you wanted to watch the matches later that night or the next day they weren't available. Some games weren't available until Monday or Tuesday.-last night was the worst happening with subscribers unable to watch some matches. Chicago/Philly, St. Louis/Cincinnati and Portland/Seattle were just some of the matches where people were unable to watch some or all of the game. St. Louis/Cinci was finally watchable with like 5 minutes left in the first half: but then it crashed again with 20 minutes left. One thing people discovered with last night's outage is that it happened on all platforms: Apple app streaming on phones and iPad, Apple TV, Roku, XBox, PS etc. The only ones that had luck was laptop browser. Stick that in your memory banks if this happens with football. I do it all the time. It works better than the DTV fast forward functionality and allows you to skip whatever you want, go backward and forward to visually pinpoint where you want to be. If you pause and change to a different channel you start right where you stopped when you return. Where do you get these ideas?I get these ideas from having watched sports on ESPN+, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, FuboTV, plus regular shows on Netflix and Hulu. Oh, and DirecTV streaming. It will be interesting to see how subs go, you have the push pull of people who have access vs people on DTV that prolly dont sub since they got it free often. I will be looking into other options that I have used in the past. by St. Loser Fan 2 years 2 months ago Total posts: 10889 Joined: May 31 2016 Saint Louis MO Hall of Fame The Future of the NFL on TV: Sunday Ticket to YouTube POST #440 I just want you guys to prepare yourselves for challenges.
