Good one PA...

NO's Oline vs AD / Floyd could get as ugly as us. I'm watching the game with my buddy who's a Saints fan. Woo hoo!

Didn’t matter. Nsekhe, our 3rd LT knocked outta the game. And Evans in. No sacks before that 5 or 6 after to end the game.

Never seen anything like this in 50 years of watching the Rams.

13 starters on the OL

There have been 3 games in which the 5 OL starters played every snap. Buffalo, the 2nd SF game and the 2nd Arizona game.

10 different starting combos, it will be 11 next week

BUF: Noteboom, Edwards, Allen, Shelton, Havenstein
ATL: Noteboom, Edwards, Shelton, Anchrum (2 snaps), Havenstein
ARZ: Noteboom, Edwards (concussion found after game), Shelton, Jackson, Havenstein (45 snaps; Evans played 3 snaps)
SF: Noteboom, Evans, Shelton (16 snaps), Jackson, Havenstein
DAL: Noteboom, Edwards (53 snaps), Kolone, Jackson, Havenstein
CAR: Noteboom (9 snaps), Evans, Kolone, Jackson, Havenstein
SF: Jackson, Evans, Allen, Aboushi, Havenstein (*Nsekhe played 2 snaps on 6 man line)
TB: Jackson (52 snaps), Evans, Allen, Brewer, Havenstein
ARZ: Nsekhe, Shelton, Allen, Brewer, Havenstein (Brewer played after being injured)
NOL: Nsekhe, Skura, Shelton, Aboushi, Havenstein

Red shading = Injured in game and/or done for season

I've looked at that list of starters by game, thinking "there's got to be one combination used twice" but there isn't.

I do wonder if subpar athletes, not in top physical shape, and who have no idea what they are doing out there are more susceptible to injury.

That would help explain why all these bum backups keep going down.

At this point, they need to shut Stafford down for the season. McVay set this disaster up last year. Don’t be surprised if Stafford retires.

Sure that would help explain, make some sense, give us somebody to blame for all these injuries but I don't think lack of talent equates to vulnerable to injury. Off the street free agents who might not be in top shape like Nsekhe might be vulnerable. But it hardly explains, Allen, Noteboom, Anchrun, Edwards, Shelton, Jackson, Brewer and the rest. If lack of talent was the reason OL injuries occur, the high end of the cap would be mostly offensive lineman, instead of quarterbacks, receivers, cornerbacks and edge players. Because teams would want to be strong right through the 2nd string on OL....like some fans thought the Rams should have been in the first place.

I heard a scout say that if you ask an inferior athlete to do things that his body just isn’t up to doing he is more susceptible to injury. I’m not saying that’s true, but it’s not unreasonable.

McVay is virtually taking guys off junk pile and asking them to play NFL football. As far as Allen, he’s undersized. Only a matter of time before he broke down.

Still, we all know the Rams model was high risk high reward. The major risk was expecting Noteboom to both hold up and play well at LT. It was based more on hope than past performance.

It doesn’t mean much, but we are probably the worst defending SB in NFL history. A lot of that is bad luck. But not being a serious contender this year is mostly related to bad moves by Snead and McVay.

When Brian Allen went down vs Buffalo, they moved Shelton over to OC...but folks forget that Noteboom got banged-up that in the opener vs Bills, so here was McSnead's OL Plan for Game #2 vs Atlanta:
RT...Rob Havenstein...7 year Ram vet 8-)
RG...Tremayne Anchrum....ZERO NFL STARTS :shock2: :arrow2: :o
OC.....Coleman Shelton......TWO NFL STARTS :shock2: :arrow2: :o
LG......David Edwards....4 year vet
LT.......Alaric Jackson.......ZERO NFL STARTS :shock2: :arrow2: :o

Solid 2022 Ram OL personnel planning by McSnead??? :?
I don't think so.

Joe AnnuallyIR'd Noteboom was able to go against the Falcons in Game Two, and did last another few games for us until Carolina, where he was IR'd again. :cry2:
Question: In what universe could Noteboom be expected to reasonably/adequately fill Andrew FutureHOFer Whitworth shoes?? In what universe is an Oft-Injured-Career-Backup OLineman worth $40Mil for 3 years??!! :roll2:

Brian AnnuallyIR'd Allen showed up for 2022 Rams TC with a RoboCop KneeBrace that weighed more than TuTu Atwell....but Allen was counted on as another dependable 2022 OL Starter along with Noteboom......just as they were in 2019. :cry2: :arrow2: :roll2:

Like aren't smart management types "supposed to learn from past mistakes.....IE. to not repeat them?? :?2:

....and let's recall, Logan Bruss, the planned RG "Starter" per the Rams braintrust and scouts at Rocket Mortgage Draft Mansion .....or at the very least, the 2022 primary Ram OL backup.....um when Bruss gets IR'd in PreSeason for all of 2022.....what OL personnel moves did McSnead make, huh?? :?2:

Oh yeah.....McSnead did nothing when Bruss went down.
They went to an older StreetGuy JAG, Oday 7TeamsIn8Years Aboushi as their BIG MOVE, only after Allen went down (Oday arrived Sept 14 to Rams PS/Sept20 to LAR Roster). :?

Good planning??? :?2:
I don't think so.
I think McSnead rolled the dice on the 2022 OL.
In fact, IMO they doubled-down by relying on our "InHouse OL talent!" like Kolone, Evans, Brewer et al :roll2:
As far as getting Outside OL Help/as they merely went with another couple of older StreetGuy types in Matt Skura and Ty Nsekhe. :roll2:

So, now we've damaged our Franchise QB, have a shit running game, and we have a midseason Offense that can barely score 20 PPG.....on a good day. :oops2:

McSnead rolled the dice on the OL for 2022......and it came up snake-eyes. :idea2: :|

As a Rams fan, I worry about Matthew Stafford's health.....and moveover if Matthew Stafford retires due to these recurring concussions. :(

Your last line sums it up, Canuck. I think they truly over-evaluated their in house players. They need to jettison all but 5-7 guys and then bring in upgrades and/or serious competition at EVERY OL spot - including RT. This to improve starting 5 as well as the 3-7 backups incl. practice squad.

We can blame them all we want but, the blame game would have a lot more legs if there were a lot fewer injuries and we were evaluating the same guys playing game in and game out. If that he opened and we still sucked, then we could totally blame the personnel dept for shit eval. It with this many injuries, that is an impossible evaluation. No team goes 15-17 deep with quality OL. It’s not possible.
