Utley will be 38 next year, hey I love the guy, he plays the game all out, I just love "old school" players & Utley is as old school as they get but we have a kid named Calhoun that's been getting some ink & at some point we gotta get a young 2nd baseman so that Corey Seager & the new guy (whoever he is) can grow up together & man I hope they re-sign Kenley Janson & put Puig in right field & fuhgetabouthim, the guy can earn his keep with his glove AND he's a righty bat...

Their first priority should be Jansen. But yeah, they need another ace. Offense is ok, but I'd like to have a table setter at the top of the lineup who can steal bases and help them manufacture runs instead of relying on the long ball so much.

I agree and want Kenley back I think he's the best. That said I think Freidman signs Chapman and let do body lose get Kenley so that he gets a closer and a comp pick. That's a very Freidman thing to do.

Roberts getting the Manager of the Year award is a bit surprising to me. I guess they thought he dealt with a lot of injuries but even as a Dodgers fan, I think Joe Maddon of the Cubs should have won it. Ending that curse is one of the biggest things a manager could have done in baseball.

I think as stacked as the Cubs were, the people voting figured they shoulda won with that roster. The Dodgers weren't as talented, lost their best player for two months, the rotation didn't look that good at the time. Yet, he still guided them to the playoffs and the NLCS.

He had them overachieving most the year. He seemed to pull all the right strings to get them as far as they got. Although, I woulda started Kershaw at home in game 5. If they coulda won that one he'd be available in the bullpen for game 7.

Yeah, he got the Dodgers far, but Maddon got farther and won it all...for the Cubs! That carries more historical weight than overacheiving a little. Mattingly won 3 straight West crowns, winning 92+ games(Roberts won 91 this year) so it's not like Roberts was taking over a terrible team.

I don't know, I just think if it's at all close, you give it to the guy who did something special.

Isn't the voting before the post-season? It always used to be.

Yep, post season is irrelevant
To the awards at least.....

Side note, Gary Sanchez should have been Rookie of the Year but anti Yankee bias rears its ugly head again

Haven't been around much, just typed a long response to one of you guys posts regarding Roberts winning Manager of the Year & it suddenly thrust me out of here, I lost my post & I'm not gonna do that again, so I'll just say I think Roberts did a better job keeping us on track while dealing with far more adversity, Maddon had some studs that he could trot out to pitch every day while Roberts was forced to use Rookies to fill in the gaps... I sure hope we get Jansen back, him & Chapman would be fine together but I'd rather have Jansen if forced to chose...
