Do you think they're 100% intent on Carson?

Honestly, does anyone think that 500 million number is a surprise to any of the teams trying to move and that they haven't made plans accordingly?

I mean.. with a move.. the Chargers could sell about 20% of the team for $500 Million.. there's your cash.

Would you enter that kind of process without having an idea of what it would entail?

I find this interesting have ya heard anymore on them selling 20% to raise the relocation fee. Reason I am curious is Alex owns 37% and is the majority holder. So I would wonder if they see his shares as viable since he is at at a age and place in life where estate planning is a concern and a near term reality. Also I am curious to the numbers as attorney fees and federal, state, and local taxes would be a part of this sale. So anyway I am curious to the numbers so I can get a better idea of what they are looking at and planning.

We do know they were willing to sell part of the team to make Farmers happen... just not as much of the team as Anschutz wanted at a discount price.
I'm just saying it's one easy way to get to that $500 million dollars.

Oh ok I got ya bro.

Would Goldman Sachs ante up the 500 million as part of the operating costs they allegedly were willing to cover?

Just to clear up a few things. The Cardinals relocation fee was split with all the owners but not the rest. The fee was only split with the lower revenue teams and the teams received payments based on their own revenues. Less than 1/2 the teams received any of the fees in the 90's. That structure caused many issues because all teams had increased expenses because of the shared revenues with the players. The relocation fee increases the salary cap.

The fee isn't upfront it gets paid over time and can be adjusted downward if the revenue projections don't materialize. Sharing in the profits is completely different than paying over times. The league was looking to capture additional revenues if the teams did better but it was all talk. It made a nice headline but it couldn't be done. One reason is because of the complications that it would cause if the team was sold and how to account for the revenue uncertainties in the sales price.
