I’m a little leery on Shotty. He’s been a failure but I have seen some games where his play calling was great. (Namely in playoffs with Jets)
He did do a great job last year with the Colts, and I’m not convinced his prior failing wasn’t in large part because of the inept offensive mind(s) of the HC he served under. Ryan may be worse than Fisher

Now he has a QB who is pretty good and a HC who is open to aggressive offense

Wilson's elusive scrambling isn't in Shotty's play book and that's their best play. That or their 3rd and forever chuck-a-bomb play.

Sizing up the Seahawks

The Seahawks are a team in transition. A vaunted defense that was consistently among the league's best has been dismantled this offseason. Cornerback Richard Sherman, who is recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, quickly joined the NFC West rival 49ers after his release in early March. Defensive end Michael Bennett, who had been Seattle's most consistent pass rusher, was dealt to the Eagles when the 2018 trading period opened in mid-March. Defensive end Cliff Avril was released last month. The neck injury Avril suffered early last season is thought to be career ending. Strong safety Kam Chancellor's career is also in jeopardy because of a neck injury suffered during the middle of last season. Thomas and middle linebacker Bobby Wagner are the only two mainstays remaining from a unit that led Seattle to a convincing Super Bowl XLVIII win during the 2013 season and return appearance in Super Bowl XLIX the following year.

General manager John Schneider met with Thomas' representation at the NFL combine in early March. There hasn't been any meaningful dialogue about a contract since then.

The Seahawks established a baseline for Thomas by giving Chancellor a three-year, $36 million contract extension (with $25 million in guarantees) when training camp opened last year. The deal was a curious decision even before Chancellor's career-threatening neck injury because it seemed as if his eventual replacement had been found in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft with Delano Hill. Thomas, who will be 30 next year, probably has his sights set on reclaiming his place at the top of the safety pay scale. Eric Berry is the current standard with the six-year, $78 million contract containing $40 million in guarantees he received from the Chiefs in 2017. Adjusting Thomas' existing deal, which was signed when the salary cap was $133 million, to the current $177.2 million salary cap environment puts Thomas at approximately $13.25 million per year.

in 2010 the seahawks finished 27th in offensive points allowed - the following season 5 of the 11 defensive starters from 2010 were sent packing, replaced, and the seahawks finished the year 5th in offensive points allowed... hopefully carroll has run out of magic.

Carroll’s magic is what the current fans seem to be banking on.

They do have precedent to believe such.

I question his choice at OC and kinda think Shotty will complicate rather than help, but that’s just me as a Rams fan remembering him.

I also believe they still under appreciate the impact Lynch had on their winning teams.

Hile to Carroll and Wilson seems to be the mantra.

We will see.

Yeah Red, you are correct with the niners and seahawks. They're going to rely heavily on their quarterbacks. I give the seahawks the edge. He's proven. The niners, while their fans are on cloud nine, have a quarterback who show's promise but very green when it comes to actually playing the games.

The Rams have a solid quarterback. Not elite. Yet. But they have pieces around them any quarterback would love to have. All Pro RB. All Pro LT. 1000 yard receiver. Two very good complimentary receivers. And one of the overall best lines. Not to mention a defense that can dominate if they should be held in check once in a while.

i dunno, the thought of mannion forced to cover for goff most of the season sends chills down my spine... sure, the rams defense looks like it will be epic, but i had high hopes for the unit last season too, especially since it was just two years removed from 5th best in points allowed, but alas...

anyway, it's a qb driven league, all teams are banking on their qb, without a good one any sort of sustained success is hard to come by.... here's a look at the number of qbs who threw at least 100 passes for their team dating back to 2001, when brady became the patriots starter, along with where each team ranks in offensive scoring for the 2001-2017 stretch... cleveland, oh my...
