Some people think this is a big series starting tonight. Unless there's a sweep there will only be one game different in the standing. Giants might need it more than the Dodgers, but the way the Dodger bats can go cold, even winning two out of three still ain't comfortable. They can easily lose 8 out of 10 while the Giants win 6 out of 10 and make it a dead heat.

I gotta think with Greinke on the mound tomorrow and Kershaw Wednesday it'll be hard for the Giants to sweep. Of course, if the Dodgers can find a way to win with Anderson on the mound, they'll be in much better shape. Greinke's been lights out but Bumgardner is better in crunch time. Dodgers will have a hard time scoring anything. Greinke might pitch 8 shut out innings and still get a no decision. Kershaw's got the edge Wednesday. Unless the cold bats continue and they get shut out.

I gotta think the Giants have the edge tonight. Dodger bats are cold and Anderson isn't a shutdown pitcher. I'm hoping they can find a way to win one of the next two. Last time they faced the Giants is when they were in one of their scoring droughts. Got shut out all 3 games.

Big win last night. The way their offense has been going, I thought the 3 runs the Giants got would be a enough. A-Gon made sure it wasn't. If the Dodgers split the next two they'll put pressure on the Giants.

But I don't want to look ahead. I know how they can go cold on offense. They got no hit twice in 10 days. Seems like they're a feast or famine team. If they're not hitting homeruns they don't score much. They had two last night. That was great, but they need to manufacture runs if they wanna win in the playoffs. Or win enough to get there.

Bob Starr was a good Rams announcer but Dick Enberg was the best. When I was a kid, Enberg called the Rams, Angles and UCLA Basketball - all my favorite teams. I think he's one of the greats and highly underrated.

ME=Dodgers= Vin Scully, Jerry Doggett, then just Scully & his endless baseball stories that only he could tell & his falling apart when the camera showed a kid in the stands...When Dodgers Stadium opened almost everyone brought their transistor radio to hear Vin Scully call the game you were watching...
Rams= Dick Enberg...Was sure strange hearing Enberg calling the game for the Padres the 1st time...Loved his "Oh My" too Elvis...
Lakers= Chick Hearn, who came up with "faked him into the popcorn machine"...

With Clayton Kershaw starting tomorrow night look for a Dodgers sweep of the Giants & a 6 1/2 game lead with the season ending October 1st...

Dodgers are alive & well Hacksaw, tonight they completed a 3 game sweep of the Giants & have a 6 1/2 game lead over the Giants in the West...
Kershaw reminds me a lot of Koufax in that if you don't get to him early fuhgetaboutit...Kershaw threw a 132 pitch complete game tonight, 1 walk & 15 strikeouts, he was still throwing 94-95mph fastballs in the ninth inning & fittingly struck out Byrd, the final batter to end it...Really enjoyed this series after that 3 shutout game sweep at the Giants earlier this year, however I think the Giants are out of it at this point & will be watching the playoffs on tv...JMHO

Kershaw and Greinke were lights out. 6.5 games up with 30 to go. If they went .500 the rest of the way the giants would have to win 21 of their last 29 to catch them. Tall order. The Dodgers need to keep the foot on the gas. They don't want to go into a losing streak after sweeping them. It ain't over till its over.

Strange game last night & the debut of the Dodgers #1 prospect Corey Seager at ss...Dodgers trailed 4-0, went ahead 7-4, eventually lost 10-7 & Corey Seager was in the middle of it, dude has a sweet stroke going 2 for 4 with a rope into the right field corner, 2 rbi's with 2 runs scored...
Seager started a dbl. play, forget the inning (6th I think) with Utley standing at 2nd with his foot up against the side of the bag, Utley relayed Seagers toss to AGon for an easy dbl play; 2nd base ump calls the runner safe at 2nd, Mattingly appeals, replay CLEARLY shows Utleys foot pressed against the bag (lots of mid fielders do this so as not to get their foot spiked, Utleys been doing it his whole career) even after the replay the umps STILL called the runner at 2nd safe! Been watching baseball since the 50's & seriously I've NEVER seen a worse call! This seemed to deflate the Dodgers team...Mattingly went ballistic but strangely never got tossed as he argued that call between innings right up to the end of the game, so he argued that call for 3 innings...Hope he protests this game, Gawd what a bad call! Even got an eye roll from the Padre player called safe!

Methinks the Giants have been demoralized by the sweep. They're still losing. Dodgers have a 7.5 game lead with 28 to play. It would be nice to make the series in SF a moot point by then. But teams who clinch early can lose momentum in the playoffs. Part of me wants it over and done so they're safely in the playoffs. Another part of me wants them to have to fight for it all the way through. Giants aren't making them fight for it much.
