St. Loser Fan wrote:Lots of bitterness here in St. Louis. The Rams have made more good moves in the last few weeks than they did the entire last decade here.

The AM sports radio station just spent two segments on this. Lots of angry calls.

But STL has the SB win.

Egos like being in LA. Just a fact.

From the Post board.

Even Rush Limbaugh and Stan Kroenke dumped them.

Luckily there's nothing like Saint Louis.

That’s not a post from posters on this board.

Maybe take a break from there.

So are there any options on the Suh contract at all? Or is it just straight up one and done?

aeneas1 wrote:the afl isn't a complicated conversation, nor is the super bowl participation history of teams that started in the afl... if someone wants to exclude the bengals and dolphins from the afl in an effort to support a ridiculous claim, i.e. include just 8 afl teams instead of 10, it still doesn't wash...

super bowl appearances:
- afl (8 teams) - 32
- nfl (22 teams) - 65

super bowl appearances per team:
- afl (8 teams) - 4.0 appearances per afl team.
- nfl (22 teams) - 3.0 appearances per nfl team.

super bowl wins per team:
- afl (8 teams) - 1.3 super bowl wins per afl team.
- nfl (22 teams) - 1.7 super bowl wins per nfl team.

percentage of league, percentage of super bowl appearances:
- afl (pats, broncos, radiers) - 38% of afl teams, 72% of afl super bowl appearances.
- nfl (cowboys, steelers, niners, redskins, packers, giants, vikings, colts) - 36% of nfl teams, 70% of nfl super bowl appearances.

remaining percentage of league, percentage of super bowl appearances:
- afl (bills, chiefs (texans), titans (oilers), jets (titans), chargers - 63% of afl teams, 28% of afl super bowl appearances.
- nfl (eagles, seahawks, rams bears, ravens, panthers, falcons, cards, saints, bucs, browns, texans, lions, jags) - 64% of nfl teams, 30% of nfl super bowl appearances.

but according to hj29:

bottom line, the afl has the same super bowl success rate history as the nfl, when accounting for the disparity of team count in each league... h29 tried to claim that the chargers don't count (nor the jets for that matter) when looking at his whack-job conspiracy theory that teams getting new stadiums get good overnight - his argument (ha ha) is they (bolts, jets) don't count because afl teams, outside of a handful, suck when it comes to making it to the super bowl while, presumably, nfl teams don't. :D

anyhoo, i can't believe i wasted my (our) time on this, in this epic news thread no less, the firggin' rams landed suh, wtf, should we now call our guys in horns the los angeles yankees?
I hope you don't actually think it's waste of time, I enjoy the conversation and I think it's a good history lesson for the fans that don't go back that far. Hell, I don't go back that far.

As far as the point being made, my perception is that the AFL/AFC hasn't enjoyed as much success as the NFL/NFC but that it is probably slanted by the 80's/90's where the Cowboys/49ers/Redskins seemed to dominate.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to saying there's a conspiracy against the AFL but maybe there's still some bias? I'm sure there is still a feeling of seniority with some of the NFL teams about the AFL teams.
