LARams_1963 wrote:This was a HUGE factor in my decision. We wanted to be on the home side, East side, but was concerned with the sun being in our faces during the early to late part of the afternoon. I asked my rep lots of questions about the UV roofing material. His response was basicly that it will dramatically cut down UV rays and radiant heat, and direct light. I was still concerned. Then while playing with the virtual venue I realized that if everything is to scale and fairly accurate we should be ok. When tilting the seat view camera up towards the roof from my seats the Occular is blocking the western half of the stadium roof almost completely. Now, in the section below us, 200, it might be a problem. I guess we will see. Lots of materials to block the sun quite a bit. For example, at the coliseum we are row 5. Sept day games were brutal with the sun at our back. But that one 10 min period when the sun ducked behind the crane arm it was sheer relief...LOL. There must be some logic, hopefully, that they would make the East side the home side.

I'm also going to assume that the choice of home side was well thought out. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want bad PR regarding home side seating as soon as the new stadium opens. Since I was already set on home side the sun thing didn't factor into my decision. My primary concern was feeling that I'm getting good value for what I'm paying. My choice came down to section 445 on the aisle bordering 444, row 5 (rep said it's the last row) or section 300 on the aisle bordering 353, row 6. I ended up going with 445 to be more centered even though it's higher up. Part of me is still second guessing not looking for row 1 seats, but it's too late now. My rep had e-mailed me screenshots of the views but I can't tell how accurate they are. I saw the screenshot of 301 in your other post and it looks quite a bit different than the one he sent me of 300. Will just have to wait until opening day to see.

Yeah the rep was really specific, when he panned left he told me our exact seats were like 10 seats down towards the 10yd line

How did you get access to the virtual venue?
It doesn't work on the LASED website, so he sent me a link so we could share screens and he had a different VV app which did work well.

Some random questions I have been thinking about and thought this was the best place for them.

1. Has Stan started building this place before the Chargers, or Raiders for that matter, decided to come, could he have really upped the "Rams" factor in it? As it is now, it really is pretty generic compared to Jerry World.

2. Follow up to the above, who gets to decided the seat colors? Had the Raiders came instead of the Chargers, I don't think they would have gone with blue? Actually, it is pretty coincidental the Chargers are blue as well. It would have been a fun thought to have the Raiders playing in a blue stadium. I think they may have as the Rams have NEVER had a stadium with their colors anyway.

3. Naming rights. Is there any idea when that will happen? I would guess that is totally up to Stan. I think it would be hilarious, if Stan says "F it, I don't need naming rights money" and just officially names it Rams Stadium. I bet there would be nothing Spanos could do about that.

4. Will they continue to have the Rams logo mid field or do what the Jets/Giants have done and give up and just put the NFL logo on as it was too much work swapping it out every week?

5. Any update to the monorail that may be built?

6. The sound reflecting roof is a big gamble. Especially with the Chargers. It basically magnifies sound. So with so many visiting fans in our neck of the woods it is not unthinkable for BOTH home and visiting teams to use silent count. Chargers may get really hosed.

7. Lastly, who, if we could pick, would be the first visiting team in the new stadium? Pre season and home opener? I bet Dallas will get the pre season.

If they really want to host stuff like NCAA Football Championships, Final Fours, Olympics etc the stadium would have to be kept generic.

Have you been to Jerry World? Outside of the star on the field the place is generic. At least to me the Bills and Packers are the only teams with truly unique stadiums.

Stan's not going to pass on that money. Maybe DirecTV or AT&T. Mercedes Benz has already proved you can have multiple stadiums with the same name in a league.

It's gonna be Dallas: bet your house on it. The Cowboys could be coming off an 0-16 season and Jerry will still get his award for being an ass.

We're assuming that the Chargers are even selling tickets. I'd bet money the boards will be electronic and will switch colors and logos on the 8 days the Chargers get to use the joint.
The Oculus is awfully powder blue though.

Yeah, lot of talk about how digital the stadium is gonna be, so easy to switch from brand to brand. I guess we'll see what that's like in practice come 2020.

I am confident there will be a large naming rights deal in the near future...

Oddly excited for naming rights, I will almost for sure be disappointed.
