The defenses BB designs confound Goff and McVs deal. At least so far.
If the Rams can impose their will and stone those fers, they're beatable.
Pressure on Newton, stuff the run is not over this D's head. Just need to move the ball . Win in the trenches.

All around great team effort. D contained Murray, who is electric to say the least. We are on a roll, and I hope we roll all the way to the SB.

Great throw to Higbee for the TD.

On that missed 6, it was bang, bang. Goff was stepping up in the pocket and Kupp was just breaking free when he threw it to Higbee. In fact his arm was already in motion before Kupp opened up. If he had waited a tick longer, he could have went to Kupp. Still that drive ended up with 7, so I'll forgive him and forget it. :D

Jekyll Goff didn't surprise me at all. He always has good games against the Cardinals so it was perfect timing for him. Now, will Jared Hyde show up on Thursday?

Today's win was very satisfying overall but it doesn't really change anything with Goff. Inconsistency remains his biggest issue. 3 turnovers one week, none the next. It's always a roller coaster but today's win was about as close to a complete victory as we've had this year.

Ya Moke, he really isn’t all that inconsistent. He had 3 not very good/bad games this season. He has had a handful over his young career. But he wins and wins a lot. He makes plays. Is he the master of the off schedule play? Hardly. But, he has made a handful of those too.

The most important stat is WINS. He has won a lot more than he has lost (under MCV).

A different view of that.

I agree, the team that McVay has put together is a good team. Keep the turnovers to a minimum and get the ball out of Goff's hands quickly while spreading it around and taking what the defense gives, and he could be good enough to get a SB win. I just want to see all of that against good defenses and playoff caliber teams.

Maybe today will spring board him onto that kind of success.

yep, it's a different rams offense this season, quick short passes in exchange for yacs, it's clearly intentional, by design, to put the oline and goff in a better position to succeed on passing plays apparently.

year in and year out brees always ranks near or at the bottom in intended air yards (which is nothing more than average depth of target, hence the "intended", the average doesn't include spikes, throwaways, etc., only passes intended for receivers, i.e. targets) - no qb has thrown short more often than brees over the years, then again no qb has thrown to running backs as much as brees... unlike past seasons tho, goff ranks near the bottom in iay this season along with brees, istead of middle of the pack or higher as in past years - headed into week 13 alex smith was last in iay average, brees second to last, and goff 3 slots above brees... joe flacco ranked at the top in iay average, followed by lock, trubisky and wentz.

I have zero problems with that take. Frankly, I feel the same. It’s the stout defenses that present problems and worry me. This has been a crazy year and surreal season. I just want to enjoy the ride and see where it takes us.

This design is set up to make obvious what the defense is “giving” you and to take it. Unless you have time to work deep to short and/or through your route progression. JG mostly took what they gave and was efficient. At times he looked for bigger plays and found them. I think a lot of this is the function of the OL’s ability to not only protect against a 4 man rush, but how well they handle 5, 6, 7 man pressure. MCV plays it safe and feels like they can drive the field every time IF they take what is set up to be presented and available.
