I often look at offensive points scored and offensive points allowed, it shows two slightly above average units over the course of the season:

Offensive points scored: 22.3 (tied for 14th)
Offensive points allowed: 20.9 (13th)

But as Aeneas points out above, it has also been a wildly uneven season for both units...

- the rams defense gave up 27 offensive points to the niners.
- road teams are 13-69-1 (.163) when giving up 27+ points.
- only 2 road teams have a winning record when giving up 27+ points.
- 26 road teams have a losing record when giving up 27+ points.
- giving up 27+ points on the road is not a recipe for success.

Goff threw one interception Saturday that resulted in a TD.

The Rams intercepted JG twice which resulted in a TD and a missed field goal well within GZ's range.

Exactly where is the difference?

The INTs were an issue this year and they need to go down.

But in this one game--I like that they kept fighting and came back.

Goff needs to be perfect or he’s part of the problem I guess

Interesting, since that's lower than his average the last two years.

A 95 rating is what he would've had without that interception. And the Int is agnostic when it comes to being a pick-6, so that damage isn't even factored in.

Strawest of men.

So if he threw a pick 6 but had a 95 rating that would be ok?
Because if Higbee scores instead of being down at the 1 inch line, his rating would have been 93

I think one would have a tough time finding anyone asking for perfection. Asking that the QB not turn the ball over isn't asking for perfection. Ryan, Brees, Jackson...just about every QB that has faced the 49ers in the past half a season hasn't turned the ball over against them so it's not like it's a huge ask.

He doesn't have to be perfect. And in fact "not throwing a pick 6" taken just in itself would be far from perfect anyway. I think Goff struggled with an unstable OL much of the year and the result was a 19 to 16 TD to INT ratio, when last year's 32 to 12 ratio was of course much better. I think he can do better with turnovers and I think he will.

I think we will see more of this next year:

Goff threw a bunch of interceptions this year no doubt.

Goff was working with a line under duress unlike the two years prior.

The title of this thread is "Goff is a problem".

So to the thread starter and all considered......

Goff is NOT a problem.

I love his play considering the circumstances.

I guess if we just eliminated the existence of the OL Goff would be a problem. Without ANY protection why on earth does this guy not have at least a 95 QB rating?

Hate to say it bud, but some are more level thinking. Team sport.

GO RAMS!!!

But Jackson and Rodgers lost fumbles, that isn’t a turnover? Wilson got picked by San Fran and won the game. Goff didn’t throw a pick the first time around and lost.
So is there a correlation ? Doesn’t seem like it.
