St. Loser Fan wrote:The problem is the bar is getting moved higher and higher and at some point it needs to stop. The problem is a lot of stadiums opened in the late 1990s and they'll be hitting their 30 year lease ends soon. Plus the owners see palaces like SoFi or Allegiant and get jealous.

The problem is Nissan Stadium is surrounded by junk yards, truck stops, shitty motels and warehouses. They want to use a new stadium to spur development to match what is across the river.

Not to mention how quickly times have changed. When Nashville and St Louis stadiums opened they were pretty top of the line at the time and that status deteriorated VERY quickly, at least in StL's case.

And it really would have required a pretty prescient mind to imagine how technology would change the fan experience both at home and at the stadium. Anyone who proposed the kinds of things are top-tier or even standard now would have been laughed out of the room.

Like, St Louis and Nashville never ever would have gotten the $ approved to build something future proof, even if they'd had the ability to near perfectly foresee what would be needed. It's a tough deal.

I'm also guessing Nissan Stadium's decline was accelerated by the 1-1000 year flooding they had.

^^ WOW. Yeah that might have factored in. No roof doesn't help when comparing to Atl and NO either.

But Nashville can't compete. Atlanta's airport is one of the busiest in the world and Nashville's is very mid tier. And while Broadway/2nd Street have plenty of bars NOTHING can compare to the French Quarter and the rest of the New Orleans party scene. Plus both of those cities have enough hotel rooms: Nashville doesn't. Yes they are catching up but availability is still tough and rates are way too high on just a normal Thursday with a Predators the only event in town and Vanderbilt on break.

If anything it's the littler city/big city jealousy between Nashville and Atlanta. Similar to St. Louis > Chicago, Portland > Seattle, San Diego > LA.

They're still talking 60,000 capacity which should be an issue with getting a Super Bowl.

That looks oddly familiar.

That's plain ridiculous and flat out lazy! They hope to get public funding with a half-assed ripoff rendering like that?

Nashvillians (Nashvillers? Nashiputians?) should roundly reject that - it captures the feeling of Tennessee by ... saying we wish we were LA?

They also stole the silly end stage thing from the Predators hockey team who has bands play between periods and during long TV breaks.

Interesting exterior concept though with the big deck/open air terraces.

It's Manica which is a group of ex-HOK Sport employees. They did Allegiant (Vegas) and NRG (Houston) in the NFL. They also did the Chase Center in San Fran for Golden State. Most of their work is overseas.

The problem is the Nashville stadium will look dated in 20 years so they'll need $2 billion to fix that up.

As much as I loathe Stan and Demoff they did right with SoFi as it is a timeless design that will hold up well.

Better than this look of Titans stadium in May this year. 6 ft under.
