I have to disagree.

What's the value of a crunch time qb?

Well first very rarely do you find a team so prolific on offense that they dominate everyone for 3 quarters. Against other good teams, they will often find themselves in close games. Even the 99 Rams had to tough out close games in the post-season with Tampa and Tennessee. Under those conditions you want a qb who can remain poised and effective in crunch time.

Since even the best offenses will end up in their share of close games, it also helps if the rest of your team has confidence in the qb in that situation.

That doesn't mean it's either/or. Either lead by a lot going into the 4th or being able to win in a close game in the 4th. You can have both. The key to having both is a qb who plays well under crunch time conditions, and a team that's confident he can do that.

your negativity cancels out his negativity. Now it becomes a positive.

A lot of great and encouraging and educational discussion resulted from the original post.

There's another board that has everything cheerleader happy.... I don't go there because the discussions are shallow and I don't learn anything there

Hacksaw wrote:Goff is better. McVay is better. The Rams offense has jelled. The Rams already played them so they aren't foreign.
The Hags aren't as good as they were due to injuries. The Hags entire O is named Wilson,, slow him down and the Hags won't keep up. The Hags needed 5 turnover to barely win,, that won't happen again.

Rams take this one and Goff comes of age.

- RAMS have to be torqued about flubbing away the first game in LA.
- Win this game and the division and the playoffs are almost a certainty.
- Add in Hack's comments above.
'Hawks won't rollover, but I can envision a 27-10 RAM win.

Pro Bowl

i agree with the earlier post aeneas... people are still selling goff short....

he lead the rams back on seattle and had a chance to win.. twice...

he brought the rams back against philly, only to have the defense break down cost us the chance at the #1 seed...

but none of what we think matters.. the competitiveness of this team is unmistakable.. superbowl contenders...period... i guarantee the rest of the NFL knows this , even if us rfu boys sometimes have our fan based reservations...

i'm all in... superbowl or bust...

go rams

Team game. NO team personifies that like our Rams. Is anyone convinced that with the game on the line, Goff DOESNT have what it takes?

Just goes to show it takes 53 guys. Goff is in an important position but he doesn't need to be lights out to win. A few weeks ago I said this was a playoff team but not a Superbowl team. I think I might have to revise that. I don't see anyone that much better than us. So I am now saying we have as good a chance at the Superbowl as anyone else. We might have to do it on the road but we're 6-1 on the road. Not bad.

Me neither. Some fans will point to the low yardage output today. Some may point to the fumble or the tipped pick. But in reality, today was all about the defense and Gurley. Imagine that.......they ran a guy out of town (and rightfully so) who subscribed to the way the game was won today.....the irony is dripping off the walls. I'll take McVay's system just the same. This team is complete and very good.
