Bob Carl: Would need to know the context of the bat throwing before I judged Ted Williams, but I see no problem in shooting pigeons and rats.

no need to judge him at all ... that was a different time period and a different culture ... in today's world is not ok to throw bats at people on purpose for any reason... and certainly NOT ok to bring firearms onto the field even to "just shoot birds"

or Ty Cobb, who went into the seats and severely beat a handicapped man. The guy had no hands (but obviously the handicap didn't affect his verbal skills. FWIW, he called Cobb the "N" word). IIRC, Cobb did get fined and suspended but his team mates refused to play unless he was reinstated. He was reinstated.

And not to pick on someone with a disability, there's virtually no accountability from the victims side and though many times, there is no reason for it, many other times there is. This Tool, albeit from another culture, was rubbing his head on Higbee and his companion. He came close to having his lights put out permanently but I wonder what would happen to him for the same act in Saudi Arabia?

If practically everything we've read is true (we know you can't believe Everything you read), this guy might have deserved what he got. And that sucks for Higbee.

That is a form of assault and harassment in itself. If the guy followed after Higbee tried to walk away, then Higbee should have decked him, but he should have stayed for a police report and insist on pressing charges against the "victim"

I agree. But how hard is it for a 20 something, college athlete, out on the night scene and a little under the influence to remain in place after decking a guy who now looks dead? It's a read and react call and I'd bet the percentile of that age group, in that exact situation who would remain on scene is under 2. If pressing charges against a dead man I killed, is door #1, I think I'll take door #2.. Life is good and in a short time I could be playing a game I love for good jack......am I going to let this nitwit, who was rubbing his bald head on me and my girl, screw that up for me....because I decked him? And all of that, if even thought of, is processed in seconds. See ya!!!

Good point. Hopefully Higbee turns his 2nd chance into something special.
