Good god, I hope not. That's going in the wrong direction. Garcia was too inexperienced for the QB coach job last year. I'd like to see a qualified OC take over

RamsFanSince82 wrote:Wasn't Garcia the WR's coach? He didn't do anything this past season to prove that he deserves the chance to be the OC. He doesn't even deserve to remain the WR coach. Did any of the WR's show improvement? Austin showed improvement overall.

I just checked. He's referred to as an offensive assistant. I really hope Fisher doesn't do something crazy like make him the OC or give him any type of promotion.

Ray Sherman has been the WR coach for the last 3-4 years. Its easy to say he hasnt done a good job, but I dont know how you can do a good job when your QB's are terrible, play in an offense that's got plays drawn on the ground with a stick and the WR is basically an all star practice squad team
Quick showed improvemet until he didnt. Bailey showed improvement until he didnt. Givens was a stud as rookie and a dud as a veteran. I think its up to a coach to get guys to see the light, but really up to the player to walk thru it

I didn't mean to imply that Garcia was the main WR coach last season. He helped coach the WR's. There's some truth to what you're saying, but if the players don't show the results on the field, the coaches should and usually are held accountable. It's not like Garcia has had success coaching WR's or other positions before coming to the Rams.

He's a young guy (only 37). He was the Browns OC for only 1 season. Before that, he was the Raiders QB coach from 12-14'.

Sounds like Fisher may know of the family from his days in Tennesse... but not sur about the timing.

In 1980, the DeFilippo family moved to Nashville, as Gene became offensive backfield coach at Vanderbilt.

Interesting.

In 2011, DeFilippo also became offensive coordinator for San Jose State, in a season where San Jose State rose 32 places in national offensive rankings and improved to 5–7 from 1–12 last season

If you want an inexperienced OC who you have to make excuses for why his team's offense was so bad in 2015, why not just keep Boras?

Fisher fires 5 assistant coaches

By Jim Thomas

Coach Jeff Fisher hinted late last week about possible coaching staff changes following the 2015 season. He didn't wait long to make those changes.

The team has decided not to renew the contracts of five assistant coaches: assistant strength and conditioning coach Adam Bailey, assistant special teams coach Paul F. Boudreau, offensive assistant Jeff Garcia, wide receivers coach Ray Sherman, and running back coach Ben Sirmans.

Boudreau is the son of the Rams' veteran offensive line coach Paul Boudreau, who remains with the club.

"We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication each of our coaches have given to the organization," Fisher said in a statement. "We wish them well in their future endeavors."
