Learning his craft under the Fanzio tree, our new DC Brandon Staley comes from a system which employs several DE's in the 280 - 290 lbs. range, and they accumulated some 18 sacks. Brockers & Fox managed 5. I suspect the Rams will use their new big man Robinson in a similar fashion as Purcell is used in Denver. Other than Copeland, the Rams really don't have anyone that stacks up physically like those Denver DE's, and this is why I expect the Rams to draft someone of a similar nature, and with a pretty high pick.Funny that you mention a RB, OT and Polite, as I did the same in earlier posts today. I've got OT Niang as a 3'rd rd. hopeful & AJ Dillon as a 4'th round RB prospect. And the competition at reserve or for rotational OLB's should be something fierce with Polite, Holland, Carraway & Patrick fighting for playing time. Patrick will likely also be competing at ILB. I've got Floyd, OBO and Ebukam already set outside, but let the games commence for the next man up.jmo.Spot on. I have to watch, guess I have time now, more of how Fangio uses his d line pieces. Does he like hybrid/position- flex DL he can use situationally, based on skill sets and match ups?? I would presume he does. But yes, we need to add some beef at DE for sure. Good thing is they usually don’t cost much in FA. And can be had deeper in The draft as well. Snead has been pretty good at that target and acquire mentality. Not sure how unique they are in how the eval and stack. But my guess is they target specific guys @ positions and rank them accordingly. Then basically ignore anything else unless it’s a “how the hell did that guy fall to this spot” type of deal. I know you indicated the situation wasn't as good as some other teams, but we've been working that way since we drafted our franchise QB. And if we think back to last year, the team didn't appear as sexy going into 2019. Gurley's knee, the low offensive output in the SB, a Superbowl hangover, young O lineman/first time starters, etc. etc. Sure we didn't make the playoffs but we did finish 9-7 with the 11th best record in the NFL. That ain't chopped liver and it surely ain't what we had been used to for almost a decade and a half. I don't care if we're sexy. I don't care if we're predicted to be in the cellar. I just care if we win. And I don't care how. In McVay I trust.I have no problem admitting we are not one of the elites anymore. But I do believe we are better than a .500 team. And anyone who is over .500 is a legit playoff contender. If we do make the playoffs, we have the advantage of being battle tested. Anyone who makes the playoffs has a chance. Its a new season at that point. No one gave the Titans much of a chance but they made it to the AFCCG. If we make it to the NFCCG I imagine the perception of our future will look quite different. If GZ makes that kick in Seattle and the rookie doesn't make that 3rd and 16 blunder, the perception today would look quite different. Funny how that works. We'd still be the same team right now no matter what. Warts and all. But the feeling would not be so bleak. And these articles would have a more positive spin. by PARAM 5 years 3 months ago Total posts: 13218 Joined: Jul 15 2015 Just far enough North of Philadelphia Hall of Fame FROM SUPER BOWL TO CELLAR; HOW RAMS FELL APART POST #37 snackdaddy wrote:I have no problem admitting we are not one of the elites anymore. It is funny how we can point to 2 plays to change the entire outcome of the season. Many, many other plays had an affect on the season and it's not fair to those two players but it is what it is. It demonstrates just how close we were or how fine that line is between playoff and play golf. And it's complimentary. The defense makes a play or two. Special teams. Offense one or two. Things are completely different. Maybe that's why we invest so much time watching and talking and arguing!!??? Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there.
