snackdaddy wrote:No, it was not an impressive win. But I've seen plenty of games this year where favored teams were not that impressive in wins. Seattle beat those two 1-15 teams by a total of 8 points. We beat them by a total of 41 points. Patriots played a 2 win Browns team and only scored two offensive TD's. One of those came on an 11 yard drive after a Mayfield INT.

We're 5-3. Still very much in the hunt. Two winnable games coming. We don't have to be hitting on all cylinders to beat the Steelers and Bears. We win those two and we're 7-3 going into the Ravens game on Monday night.

Its not like the old days where you could cross out certain games that we knew we had no chance. We're capable of beating anyone on the schedule. Odds are we won't win them all. We just need to win enough and beat the right teams. Mainly teams in our division. I don't know if we will but I know we're plenty capable.

I guess we are capable - on any given Sunday and all - and it pains me to say this, I am not sure we can beat the Niners, Saints, Packers, Vikings, or Patriots. As in, I think those teams are clearly playing better than we are. I sure hope this is some kind of rope-a-dope McVay is doing and we are going to start peaking in the final quarter of the season. I hope we come out of the bye and look even better over the next 4 games and then start looking dominant over the final quarter of the season - THAT last quarter, IF we take care of business the next 4, will give us a chance to knock the teams off that are currently in front of us.

Now, the Niners frankly look unstoppable right now. I dont see who can beat them other than a very improved Rams, maybe the Seahawks - one time, the Ravens perhaps??

I am trying to enjoy these last two wins, there are just some areas where we don’t look that good - and this goes back to the latter part of last season I believe.

Here’s to hoping we get better each week and peak when it matters.

And we HAVE to roll into SF and put a beat down on them.

I disagree.

The Rams just pounded a Falcons team that the Seahawks just beat by 7. The Vikings are squeaking by as well.

Winning by 2 touchdowns traveling as far as they did is impressive regardless of the team they played.

Get healthy on the bye and keep rolling after the rest.

This team is still firmly set in controlling their own destiny.

....the Niners are just killing me. However, they have 6 tough games left with 3 of them in the road; Hawks, Saints, Ravens on the road, Hawks, Pack, US at home. I would love nothing more than to storm back to the top of this division and be playing out or our (the Rams’) minds come the playoffs.

Ahhh, now I feel better. And I can tell by the fact that very few of us are posting that a lot of us aren’t “feeling it” right now.

I appreciate your feelings, observations, and enthusiasm on this. Perhaps I am too harsh a critic at this time. We beat two teams we should have beaten and rather handily. Like I said, let’s see steady improvement where we peak and are playing really well in all phases at the end of the season. If we are, we can beat anyone no matter where we play.

Its clearly not as easy as last season. We know that. Playoffs are far from a given this year. We are in the same boat the majority of playoff contenders are. There are only maybe 4 teams that almost a lock for the playoffs. The 49ers, Packers, Saints and Patriots. The Chiefs might be too, only because everyone else in that division sucks.

Then you have a handful of teams where you can forget about thinking playoffs. After that there are a bunch of teams chasing either a wild card or division. We're in that bunch right now. We have some work to do. Thats life in the NFL. Things are not always going to come easy.

One thing we do know, our team is battle tested. If that game against the 49ers near the end is for the division, I like our chances.

Excellent chance the NBC flex us out of December 8th vs Seahawks for 49ers vs Saints.

No way, unless we and the Hags tank before then.

I already heard rumblings on a radio show. Hope not but undefeated Niners team going to New Orleans will be tough not to put on SNF. Unless Fox already blocked that from happening,

My Realistic Prediction:

Rams 11-5, 4-2 division, 8-4 NFC

@ Steelers - W
Bears - W
Ravens - L
@ Cards - W
Hawks - W (we win 34 -28)
@ Cowboys - L
@ Niners - W (We win 28-10)
Cards - W

Niners 11-5, 4-2 division, 8-4 NFC

@ Cards - W
Hawks - W
Cards - W
Packers - L
@ Ravens - L
@ Saints - L
Falcons - W
Rams - L
@ Hawks - L

Hawks 11-5, 4-2 division, 8-4 NFC

Bucs - W
@ Niners - L
Eagles - W
Vikings - L
Rams - L
Panthers - W
Cards - W
Niners - W

Then it comes down to best record against common opponents and then point differential head to head.

I know, crazy ass scenario. But quite plausible.

Well according to your scenario, it would come down to the tiebreaker AFTER common opponents as those records would all be 6-2. :o The next tie breaker would be strength of victory in all games. I think we might come out on the short end of that one.

Actually we're #2 in that three team scenario (+40). Which would give SF the division and us the edge over Seattle after that.
