The Wi-Fi signal strength has a lot to do with buffering. I have DirecTV Stream and it is seamless. Prime Video, Netflix, HBO Max, YouTube, others,, all good.

I believe its possible to only subscribe to YouTube (or any app) during the football season. You'll just need to call and cancel.

Full disclosure I have Amazon prime. I pay for it. The streaming sucks. Buffering issues. I like Hulu I have that pay for that. But will not be paying for YouTube TV. Saw YouTube TV advertising during the NBA finals. Guess they are going the NFL route.

It doesn't suck to need YouTube TV any more than it sucked to need DirectTV. In fact, it sucks LESS because you don't have to be in the right physical location to get a stupid satellite dish which IS fucking ridiculous.

This is WAY better.

And, this only affects Sunday Ticket - not TNF, not SNF, not MNF and NOT the regular games in your geographical area.

in 2020, I subscribed to YouTube TV just for the season so that I could watch the regular games being shown in my geographical area (the live TV) - then cancelled after. It's a subscription so can be done monthly.

It basically replaces regular cable TV like Dish or something though (if you want). So, wonder what Dish thinks about this. We will likely cancel Dish altogether in my household and switch to YouTube TV.

We were talking about this deal on the St. Louis Blues hockey forum last night and a number of people said they had YTTV but dropped them once Fox (now Ballys) Sports Midwest and other regional sports networks weren’t available any more.

Another guy claimed to be a Spectrum employee. He said this is Google’s attempt to bring YTTV back from the brink of getting shut down. He pointed the Google’s failed Stadia video gaming platform that is being euthanized next month. His guess is that this contract doesn’t see the full term.

Um no they are not the same. not close. YoutubeTV offers no regional sports, zero. I get 4k on Directv...YoutubeTv nope. I would have to order ESPN (all ABC, Disney. Nat Geo Channels) separate. Will see what the price is...was always able to barter with Directv for a reasonable price, I highly doubt Google will do that lol.

You missed my point ENTIRELY.

FOR SUNDAY TICKET TO WATCH OUT OF MARKET NFL GAMES: this is much better.

It is not the same, it is BETTER. With DirectTV you had to have that stupid satellite, with Youtube TV you don't. People without DirectTV can simply subscribe to Youtube TV - they don't have to jump through any idiotic hoops.

I don't care about other sports on this topic, ONLY Sunday Ticket.

The big issue with DirectTV is that it is not an option to everyone - I have never in my entire life no matter where I have lived had this satellite. So, I have never been able to buy the Sunday Ticket. Now I will be able to, same with all people with internet access.

YAY for no more bad, illegal streams or having to go to a sports bar.

Yeah, exactly. I'm just going to wait and see what the price is, and then decide. Right now I'm leaning no. This is not a one for one replacement for DirecTV.

The important thing is: YOU will have the CHOICE.

If you don't want to pay for it - you don't have to pay for it. But, you can decide.

With Sunday Ticket being on DirectTV, those without Direct TV had no option to pay for Sunday Ticket or not. They simply just had no ability to buy it.

Also DirectTV and Youtube TV are completely different things. The is simply replacing which service is providing Sunday Ticket and making it more widely available to everyone. You all seem kinda hung up on this.

I don't care about DirectTV at all, but I know it is a different entity other than a streaming service. It has also had this monopoly for way too long. So glad it is over....

The only issue is if Google/YTTV (and by proxy the NFL) really do require a full subscription package to a higher tier. Now while you and others might not give a rats ass about other sports besides NFL football, many people do.

It would really suck to have to double pay to get access to Sunday Ticket because YTTV doesn’t have regional sports and other channels.
