The question is will Amazon pick the NBA, NFL or both? Because it sounds like Warner-Discovery is willing to walk away from the NBA and that might play into this.

I've never been a fan of Apple's proprietary nature. Started with ITunes and early Apple programs not being functional with PC/Android. Never caught on.

The NBA is a global sport but it has lost some of its luster to me after being a huge fan. Ernie and the crew are decent but becoming old hat. The NFL would be the bigger fish (imo) but the volume of the NBA might be more attractive to them.
I'm still hoping for more of an a la carte' set up.

I understand. I'm by no means an Apple Fanboi to the point of having an Apple sticker on the back of my car or a tattoo. I stay platform agnostic and use Apple, Windows and Chrome. But I think the walls have fallen around Apple as they allow Apple TV+ on non Apple devices and Apple music on other platforms like Google Hubs. I'm old enough to remember the first two generations of iPods that were Mac only and a proprietary cord.

The NFLs problem is they're doing this "off cycle" from the big Fox/CBS/NBC/ESPN contracts and that adds to complexity.

Supposedly the Fox streaming servers crashed not long after the switch over.

So if Amazon gets the Sunday Ticket would that be an extra fee for Amazon Prime members? Or would it be included? I'd love to see it included as I've had Prime for years. But I wouldn't think its a money maker if they did that.

Would be great if it was included with Prime! but, very unlikely - they aren't going to pass up such a money making opportunity.

Most likely, you will have to have Amazon Prime and then pay an extra fee for the Sunday Ticket.

I still think Apple gets it though.

Supposedly NFL is insisting it costs extra and Apple wanted to include it with Apple + but this is all "supposedly" speculation type stuff...

That was my understanding based upon articles and Twitter rumors. That Apple wanted to include Sunday Ticket at no extra cost but that the NFL didn’t want that because they felt it devalued the product.

So I don’t see how it would be a bad thing/deal breaker with Apple but allowed with Amazon.

And if Apple was gonna be paying the NFL top dollar, how is that devaluing the product?

But the NFL and Apple are apparently very particular and stubborn about how they do things so...

I was simply quoting (can't find it to link now) that said the NFL wants Sunday Ticket to be $X per month/$Y per season extra and that having it as a loss leader included as part of a regular package was the "devaluing the product". It's about perception.

One claim was the final straw was when the MLS and Apple announced their deal a few weeks ago that has the soccer package at $99-$139 a year. But the difference is Apple owns and produces the whole MLS package. The Apple logo is going on every single MLS jersey. It will be Apple hired broadcasters and Apple hired people putting out the MLS games.

Apple supposedly didn't see Sunday Ticket as a big prize because they're simply serving as a conduit rebroadcasting a Fox/CBS/ESPN/NBC product.

Having worked with Amazon on a project, they're just as much "our way or the highway/don't dare question us" as Apple.

Well as a frequent user of Sunday Ticket, I hope Amazon (if they get it) will ask for a reasonable price add on over paying for prime. Will see
