yeah, goff was quite a disaster in that chiefs game - if you happened to be a chiefs fan.

I don't agree with Max's position on this one particular thing because there's no history either with the Rams or at Cal that Goff slips into long stretches where he fumbles that way. I don't think he suddenly developed a fatal tendency to do that in game after game (even games on the road against top Ds).

But either way he did not say what you are arguing with. He didn't say he thinks Goff would not pass well in general. The issue is coughing up turnovers, particularly under stress on the road.

So while it's fun to get into that kind of disdainful jeering, because it's so classy and everything, in this case it's based on a straw man.

In theory, Goff can play well in a game passing AND cough up the ball against the pass rush. The 2 things aren't mutually exclusive. In fact he DID do both against KC. (But that's in theory. I personally would be surprised if coughing it up like that was an ongoing repeat thing.)

But that aside, what I was specifically referring to in what you quote was the issue raised by Max about Goff in his last post, which was the turnovers in the last 2 games.

My response was that he has not shown over the years back to Cal that he has a pattern like that and 2 games is not enough to say it. My other response was that A1 took Max as saying that Goff didn't perform well overall as a passer when in fact yeah he turned the ball over against KC and . did play well overall as a passer against KC...the 2 things aren't mutually exclusive.

As long as you brought up the cold, it generally is an issue in away games late in the year for teams going north or northeast from the south or southwest. It's not a huge issue though. Generally away teams win around 42% of the time; when the away team plays in the cold, it goes to 35% wins. But if there's no wind chill, Chicago in the high to mid 20s is just not that formidable.
