They were down by 3 early in the 4th, the score was at 11:51 remaining in the quarter, and that's a bit early for me for a real comeback. I think it can count as a game winning drive. What struck me on that play is that Kupp made a clutch TD catch and broke his own jinx.

Well at least it BEGAN in the 4th quarter unlike some of the ones those "great ones" are credited with. But I have to say, when Tennessee got the ball and they showed Mariota had 8 4QC in just under 3 years, I thought we were toast. Not!!

Earlier in the thread, it was said that you don't really have a comeback situation early in the 4th, because part of that is time constraints.

I would certainly call it a clutch play by Goff and even more importantly a clutch catch by Kupp. They took the lead on that play, and that counts for a lot.

But here's what got said about comebacks earlier in the thread:

/zn/ wrote:5 days ago, page 13:

But to me, the whole point of a late game comeback is that time is an important constraint. I doubt anyone would take being down a score at the start of the 4th as being under those kinds of time pressures. I would count it more as being down by a score in a winnable game halfway through the 4th.

Goff made some pressure throws with the game in the balance. That showed me a lot. The kid is as tough as nails. I've seen enough to believe he will make the same throws when its the last drive of the game.

This was a huge game for Goff. Hostile environment, couldn't rely on his Kicker, getting a lot of pressure, he came through big time.

Fuck, really dude. Get over it. The argument is moot. Rams were down in the 4th. He led them on the game winning drive. Who gives a flying fuck how much time was left. Talk about hair splitting semantics. Not attacking you per se, but your argument is fucking DONE now. DONE. We were down, late enough in the game and he hangs in the pocket and makes an incredible throw on 3RD AND LONG for the gaming winning TD.

WTF else does this kid need to do to prove he is READY - the overarching point of this thread in the first place.

Jesus man.

Ok, sorry ZN. I was a bit perturbed and then I re read everything. No disrespect meant. just saying that Goff was clutch when we needed him to be. He made the game winning throw coming from behind to win.

That's all I needed to see to confirm my thoughts and position on this topic.

Oh absolutely he was. No question. But for me, it's too soon to declare either way whether he's a consistently clutch qb or not. The examples have to pile up. Saying that takes nothing away from what he did today. And most likely they will pile up. Not overnight but they will. I am confident in that because we already know he has the mental toughness for it.
