'75 - '76, P Tom Dempsey

I attended a 1975 game at the Coliseum between the 9ers and Rams. Late in the game Dempsey was attempting a record breaking long FG. A 9er safety (can't recall who) came flying through the middle on a delay to block it. He was stretched out vertical flying like Superman. He missed the block but Dempsey caught the player in the face and forehead with that blunt foot on his powerful follow through. The players head snapped back and he lay motionless. The ambulance drove out on the field and took 9er the player away.

I can't think of another QB 10.
Of course I was a Warner guy.

My dad always said Pastorini had one of the strongest arms but I don't recall ever seeing him play. This photo makes him look like the villain on Columbo.

And, just because someone has to post a pic of him:

He did and he played on some bad teams in Houston under the worst Head Coach in NFL history who was also the first Head Coach to receive a million dollar contract in Bill Peterson. Was great under Phillips, but could never beat the Steelers and by the time he got to the Raiders and Rams, he was at the end of his rope just like Namath & Bartkowski!

BTW I did not like Dempsey with the Rams many FG's blocked because his trajectory was limited. I feel if the Rams had a better FG kicker some of those games against the Cowboys and Vikings would have turned out different.

CLOCK RESET. It's yesterday again. How could we have forgotten the Dutchman's running mate and leader of the vaunted "Bull Elephant Backfield".
Younger was the first NFL player from a predominantly black college, and was the first African American to become an NFL front-office administrator (scout and executive with the Rams until 1975).
He also wore #35.
