There are plenty of guys in the league who get better with time. How do you know if that guy is the one if you don't have the patience enough to wait? There's certainly no guarantee your replacement will be any better.

My whole point is and has been with most of these conversations surrounding the draft is that you and I or anybody else don't know what they have in Mannion. They might and they might have known when they drafted him. They drafted a backup QB last year in the third round which is fine. They weren't necessarily drafting a guy to eventually take over they thought they had their QB in Foles.

I always laugh at these draft discussions where people are emphatic that they know exactly what will happen and how a draft pick will turn out. We don't know that, we have an idea and think we know but it's all guess work.

I agree that nobody knows what they have in Mannion. I don't think they thought they were drafting a backup QB last year. I think they invested a 3rd round pick in a talented QB. Again, you never know what you're getting but upgrade the position if you can.

The Rams had already given up a 7th round pick to bring in Keenum but weren't done trying to get better at QB. Keenum turned out to be better than Foles. I don't think they thought they would have to rush the learning curve for Mannion.

Keenum turned out to be a good investment as Foles fell apart. Mannion got his year to sit and I'm sure the Rams have bumped up his schedule. Some posters want us to give up a 2nd round pick for Glenon who has the same resume with more experience. I want to see what Mannion can do with a year of experience.

The Rams spent a 3rd round pick on Tre Mason and then last year when in a position to get a franchise RB, they replaced him. Mason showed some good flashes as a rookie too.
That said, yeah it would have been "nice" if Mannion got some playing time last year but it wouldn't impact whether or not they went QB this year. Fisher goes for BP and if QB was there he'd go for it
