(Rams @Hawks) POST #23 ziggy liked this post The Seahawks are good enough to beat you if you don't bring your A game. The Rams need to continue their high level of play on all three phases (offense, defense and STs). It will be a competitive game, but certainly one that the Rams can win. The Ram offense is certainly good enough right now to score on the Hawk's D which is the strength of their team. The game probably will be won or lost on how well the Rams D can play. If pressured Geno he will turn it over. The Seahawks need an effective run attack to win. Take away that run game via strong defense and the Ram offense making it a shootout, and Smith has shown that he struggles when he needs to carry the team with his passing. They will get their #1 WR back so it won't be as simple as it might look on paper. Metcalf is long and very fast. No Ram CB can cover him without safety help. Tyler Locket is an experienced WR that the Ram's can't overlook. Even at 32 years old he can be a force if given the opportunity. Even now some analytics clock him in the 4.4 range on the field. Because Walker (RB) also has excellent speed I can see Shula playing a lot of zone coverages. The key defensively will be to shut the Hawk's run game down and pressure Smith. In other words it will be very similar to playing the Vikings. Only I think the overall speed of the Seahawks skill positions might be better. The Achilles Heel of the Seahawk's offense IMO is their OL. The Ram front 7 should be able to beat them. The Rams will need a well balanced offense to beat the Seahawk defense which can be dangerous. Stafford will have to protect the ball and not get sloppy like he has a tendency to do on occasion. Having both Kupp and Nacua back, along with a healthy Williams will stretch the Hawk defense slim. McVay's offense is designed to destroy zone defenses. The Seahawk defense is heavily influenced by the style run by Baltimore. That 3-4 hybrid system allows for a lot of flexibility in DL alignment. With McVay's penchant of running 11 personnel, I can see the Hawks base for this game as a nickel. The key will be for the Ram offense to exploit what could be a light box. Sean needs to be patient with the run game because it could benefit them in the pass game. McVay has a tendency to give up on the run too early if he doesn't have early success. He can't afford to do that against the Hawk defense. That is exactly what they want. If Sean stays balanced like he was against the Vikings, that is exactly what it will take for the Rams to win. 1 by Elvis 1 week 1 day ago Total posts: 39827 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Re: Week 9: Beat the Hawks!!
